Gonna go with buck Buster's. Half of one of my plots is already joint vetch and iron clay peas. It's supposed to be hot as hell the next 2 weeks. Trying to time it right.

I have cut and waited and sprayed. Disking should happen in about two weeks.

Haven't solidified my choice. I usually plant wheat. But considering all options.

Buck buster premium.
With the clover we have deer hitting plots hard all spring. It’s good for the herd and gives you pictures to look at all year

Probably going to do buckbusters premium and add oats ( they did not put oats in this years mix ) and then top with some whitetail Institute imperial clover. Got a soil test done and added a shite load of lime a few months ago and will have the coop mix up my seed and custom fertilizer (per soil sample) in a pull cart and plan to plant second Saturday in October. I have already dissed twice to get the lime going, will disc once more and then run the rotary tiller over it just before putting out seeds,
Planting right at 5 acres this year, and to me this is one of the funnest parts of the season

Rice bran

I know a ole baw that would mix it in with the dirt in the middle of his green fields. Every field he had a a hole 10’ wide and about 1’ deep in the middle. Would dump 200lbs and till it in

For year around forage and protein, planting Durana White clover was the best thing that I have done. I converted all 8 of my plots(about 10 acres) to Durana clover 2 years ago. I plant in early to mid October. Disc and plant a cover crop such as wheat or Buck forage oats and cover about 3/4" deep. Then use a hand spreader and plant the clover at about 5 lbs per acre and lightly cover the clover since it can't be planted more than about 1/4" deep. Starting in the spring you will have to mow 3-4 times to help promote new growth and keep the broad leafs and grass at bay. I also use volunteer mid summer which is a selective grass killer to kill any grass. If the ph levels are correct and proper fertilization is used, the clover will come back for 4-7 years. This October I will lightly disc so I don't kill my existing clover, plant wheat or oats at 50 lbs per acre and add a couple of pounds of clover to each plot. I have 300 acres and the number of rack bucks utilizing my plots this summer has been amazing. Antler growth and mass has been impressive. I'm definitely ready for bow season to begin.

Leaning towards winter rye. Trying to establish a new plot and i read it is about the most tolerant of poor soil and poor pH. I did put out some lime a couple of months ago but probably not enough.

WMS Alabama Blend is an 8-part mix that is comprised of selected Wheat, Oats, Forage Triticale, Forage Winter Peas, Diakon radishes, and annual Clovers.

And 200# 13-13-13 when planted and another 100# at Christmas, per acre. Planning on 38 acres this year.

I tried some of our bigger plots last year half buck busters the other half wheat and oats. Deer hit both but definitely preferred the buck busters. Mainly the winter peas in there.

Just going with buck busters on all of them this year, easier than trying to mix seed. 24 acres total.
