Deer Carcass Left on my Property

I've recently built a new home in West Monroe where I own 53 acres. A few days ago, I saw a truck between my home and the Methodist church on the property line. I went outside this morning and there were probably 50 buzzards hanging out on the tree / property line. Knowing that something was dead, I walked over and found a deer carcass. It was a small buck that had been dumped and was partially processed. The rib cage toward the front of the deer was complete other than the skull having been cut open to take the horns. The back end of the deer was gone.
I'm not a hunter, but am aware of CWD. For everyone not familiar with this area, it's near the edge of D'Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge - maybe 2 miles as a crow flies. I have a number of does and their offspring that probably rarely leave my property as I have a feeder and a lot of Oaks on the property with plenty of cover and a 4 acre pond. The last 2 weeks I've had a lot of big bucks in the yard running around with the does and just kinda hanging out in general. This past Sunday evening, I counted 21 does plus a few smaller bucks within 80 yards of my front door. The mail carrier had to stop her jeep because the deer were on the driveway. Between the trip in and out, maybe half of them went down a hill into the trees till she left. I really enjoy having wildlife on the property and the deer and both of my dogs like to have staredowns from across the property.
After telling several hunter friends about this, they all recommended that I report it. I called both the Fed and State wildlife departments today and though cordial, neither of them really cared and told me that I should call the other or just dispose of the carcass myself.
2 years ago while building the home, I had 2 large bucks dumped on the other side of the property that had been beheaded and only the backstrap removed. DWF came out and canvassed the area, but told us that they couldn't really do anything.
My question is this. What should I do? I'm not really receiving any help from DWF and I don't want my deer to stop living near me. I had a friend tell me that he had experienced deer moving away from his property ( also near town ) after people were dumping deer near him also.
Obviously, I don't want people dumping anything on or near my property and definitely don't want my deer to leave or even worse contract CWD, since I don't know where this deer came from. Any ideas?

Doesn't sound like there's much you can do, until you figure out this. Maybe put up game cameras in hopes they do it again and you can see whose doing it.

I'm not saying that your friend is silly but we routinely see deer feeding near gut piles in Texas. They absolutely do not care about seeing other dead animals.

Cameras, No Trespassing Signs, Booby Traps

Your 53 acres is not holding a number of does and yearlings. They probably leave your property every day. Deer carcasses will not run them off.
You are dealing with a poacher. They probably shot the deer on or near your property. Put up trail cameras where this dumping occurred and at other likely spots. Put up signs saying “under video surveillance”. Ask your friends who hunt to save their game cameras that break. Put these out, also. Outlaws need to see them and think they’re being watched.

Also, if you don’t want CWD on your property, stop using a feeder.

Sounds like you have a poacher in your midst. Have you heard shots at night or out-of-season? Gather as much info as you can safely acquire then contact LDWF.

Your first mistake was calling green jeans. Whether they acted like they cared or not, this just gives em a reason to snoop around your property and cause headaches. Posting signs and setting up game cams should have been the first move.

People who do this should be banned from hunting. Complete asshats.

I have carcasses' dumped near me all the time.
Theirs 2 piles of 6 Cayotes about a 1/2 mile away in the woods behind my house now.
Deer and Hog remains are common .
Buzzards make short work of them and I just drive on by.
I don't like it but I'd go crazy trying to stop it.
No big deal to me. I dump my kills in the woods close by all the time.
Nature makes short work of them

My old man dumps deer carcasses within 150yds of his house. They disappear in a couple days. Dead deer usually don't last long enough in the woods for them to even stink too bad (because they are delicious).

The nuisance kills I get, you aren't taking meat. Nature cleans it up. I'm just saying anyone who takes only the head and backstraps of a deer shouldn't be hunting.

And thin out the herd.

How crazy. I was actually driving in this area the other day and saw tons of buzzards flying around. I was wondering what could have attracted so many of them.
That’d aggravate the piss out of me though. I’d put up lots of fake cameras and stuff to hopefully deter people from doing these kinds of things. These kinds of hunters should be shot on spot. Wasting an animal like that is a terrible sin.

We have a 14" auger for our tractor. We dig a hole, pour the guts and drop the rest down inside the hole and cover it back up. A sawsall will make cutting the carcass down small enough to fit.
Regarding the cwd, it is the brain and spinal cord (and spinal fluid) you need to be careful about.

Your deer sound reasonably tame. What are the odds that the deer was roadkill, and someone harvested what seemed prudent and drug the rest out of the road?

I know exactly where you’re at. Let me know if you need an ethical Hunter to control some numbers.
