just picked up one of the last ones at airline academy. of course i needed a new rod for it also. there went a quick $200

I literally stopped what I was doing and went straight to my academy. The guy who opened the case had no idea they were on sale, but it rang up $99 at his counter.

Store on Siegen said only the showcase reels were left at that price and that was 30 min. ago so I'm sure they're gone, Denham Springs had no clue what I was talking about when I asked. 
What was this like a 2 hr fire sale? I had one in my cart online, called brotha in law to tell him and while I was tryin to finish, it said they were out of stock

Usually it's best to have the stock number on hand and just have them run the numbers through the computer. I've been told numerous times "we don't have X in stock", run the numbers and magically there's 10 of them.
I'm going to swing by one of the Lafayette stores tonight and see what they have. I don't need any though, plus I fish with lefties.

Yeah...that was the other part of my story. I had it pulled up on my phone to get the online price match, just in case the store didn't ring up the same. By the time the guy came to help me, I got that same 'this item has been removed' error. But, it rang up at the reel/gun counter for 99. Went directly to the front, rang up for 179. She called back, guy at the counter confirmed. Little bit of headache, but I got one. Also...I'm not in LA.

Academy has some deals on rod and real combos for cheapskates like me. Just picked up two Abu Garcia Black Max 7 footers for $39 each

Lafayette/Ambassador had a couple of the Curados in the case, I didn't ask about the chronarchs.

Picked one up yesterday in Lafayette.
So at the counter they have a big red Hot Deal sticker saying for sale for $99.99. The weird part is though that price was not in the Academy system. A manager actually said he wasn't sure where the sale came from. When I got to the register I was just talking to the girl about it. The girl had to enter the price because it rings in as $179.99. She entered $89.99 so I told her it was actually $99.99 (didn't want her to get in trouble). She said it didn't matter and she was just leaving it at $89.99. Not a bad deal

I called Denham store just now and the manager there said this was a huge corporate pricing mistake in the database. He said they received emails from upper management yesterday to stop selling Curados at that price immediately, but that some stores didn't catch on quick enough to stop sales. That's also probably why they cut off the reels on the website so fast. Some lucky SOB's made out like bandits yesterday if in fact all that is true.

damn that's crazy that they would let that happen. Oh well its hard to pass up $100 off a Chronarch Ci4+. Spooled it up last night. Headed to the camp at lunch to try and break it in.

If that's true not only did they goof on the website but they also sent HOT DEAL price decals to all the stores? Seems a bit far fetched but I noticed the sale is over on the site. I didn't even buy any.

Right after I posted yesterday I went to academy, figuring this was them dumping inventory to make room for new ones and they would go fast. When I got there there was a red sticker with "hot deal, $99 (80 off)" on the 6's and 7's.
I stood around for a few minutes and the guy showed up to get me two out of the case. Walk to the front customer service, guy goes back to fishing, and they both ring up 179. I tell the lady they're marked 99. She gets a confused look and calls a manager.
Manager and her go back and forth, hot deal, yada yada, eventually they make the guy bring them the red tag from the case that says 99, she punches some keys, I pay 200 and some change.
Since I was in a hurry I went back after work to browse and get a new rod and some tackle. I noticed as I walked by all the red stickers were gone and they were back priced as 179. I overheard one of the guys store guys (different guy) ask "what's going on with the curados?" and another says "I dunno".
So best I can figure, someone at corporate fricked up sending this deal out, and a few of the stores ended up honoring it before the mistake was noticed. More than likely this was supposed to be a certain % off for the chronarchs and someone got confused and printed the wrong stickers to send out. Shimano just released a new version of the chronarch.

The ones at Academy on Amb Caf in Lafayette had them for $99 yesterday at 6PM. The guy behind the counter said they had plenty left at that price.

I just talked to an Academy in Houston regarding the Chronach, it was an error in price and they put it back to $199. They said that the $169 price lasted for 4 days before they realized the error.

I went to Academy in Hammond as soon as I saw this yesterday. The guy told me about getting the email saying that it was a mistake. Missed out. He said they also had a bunch of rods marked wrong for ridiculous prices.
