You think there might be a reason prices go up when the temp drops?
Less crawfish and still higher demand maybe?

I think after Easter this year we will see prices alot lower than we've seen in a while.

[quote]quote: I pay a shiteload of taxes and don't buy crawfish because it's not the best use of my money. They just aren't worth $4/lb to me. Elroy an Danisha though, will buy the frick out of them with their LA Purchase credick card all day long. [/quote

But you will have those that say that has nothing to do with it

My BIL is married to a crawfish farmer's daughter and I can't even get a cut price
But yeah, even though I bitch about it, I'll buy a few sacks this year just for the simple fact that they sho be good

They should have the largest profit margin since 2006 , especially basin fisherman, with gas prices dropping so low.

Exactly. Troy Landry is the spearhead of all of this crawfish pricing bs.

Nope. I think there is the same amount of crawfish and two major holidays falling on the same weekend. You see, that's a valid reason, not one or two cold days year after year.

Crawfish are becoming more and more popular outside of LA, which also drives the price up.

We shipped "selects" to Sweeden off our farm back in the 90's. By the time they paid freight, etc. the were 14 bucks a pound, there. We're talking 12-15 count crawfish, I think it was.

Not being a dick but it's clear you know very little about crawfish production. Cold temps often cause crawfish to go into a molt and catches definitely go down.

If he owned a grocery store, would you expect to get groceries half price?

Go check traps on a 40 degrees day and then check again on a 75 degrees day in march and let me know if you see any difference

Nope, but one or two shouldn't make the price jump 83 cents. Just come out and say the real reason, it's ok. We know it's all about the money.

Its just odd that this was supposed to be a great year for crawfish, yet once again, it's to cold now or whatever.

It doesn't really matter to me, I just find crawfish farmers comical as do 99% of people posting in this thread.

Well as a matter of fact, it takes a few cold days to bring the temp down.

Have been out of the business quite a while but remember well how cold affected catch.
We got in early back when Uncle Sam didn't even tax it. Guess he figured, "Crazy coonasses..."

Then go catch your own.

No lie, the season hasn't really even started yet.

I do miss living in Mecca and going and catching our own.... Nothing like getting trashed before you even started the boil.
