I dont trust the food board, but has anyone that used the zatarains boil for crawfish noticed it's gotten saltier or taste different the past year-old? Just did our first sack of the year and threw that in there and the wife bitched that it was salty.... never really noticed it before
...

If not, what do yall use to season?

Sometimes the same brand of seasoning has some variations in taste. Salt is the cheapest thing in the recipe so it's very possible that you may have got a pack that wasn't blended 100%.

When doing 2 sacks, I like to throw one Zatarains Pro Boil and one LA Fish Fry Crawfish Seasoning in the pot. Dats a good mix baw.

Zatarains was bought out a little while back and the seasoning formulas changed. I've seen your same complaint several times regarding it being too salty now.

I was chackbay seasoning guy but I’ve moved on to the Cajun Land tub. I love the flavor. Add in liquid zatarains and it’s good to go.

Not sure about zatarains but have noticed the Louisiana fish fry blue bag just doesn’t taste the same anymore.

After using LFF for 10+ years, we tried this for the first time last year and loved it. The HEB by our house was selling it in 5 pound bags next to Zat’s and LFF. We still used the LFF liquid boil to extra spice and clove flavor.

You should. They had a pretty lengthy thread on this last year.

always taste the water soi you can adjust the seasonings if need be and if its too salty just add more water or use less soak time

just like seasoned fish fry, that stuff is all over the place with different salt levels from "damn thats salty as shite" to "it needs more salt"

i wish crab boils just had the seasonings and it was up to us to add the salt, that would be so much better

I noticed the same thing last year. Definitely too salty nowadays. I use a local guy's blend now.

I'll add Swamp Dust.

Zatarains is like Tony's.

It's okay if that's what ya got, but it's not my first choice.

Cajun land. Add a dollar garlic powder and a dollar celery salt. Small bottle of liquid. One box of salt.

We taste test every 5 minutes at 5 minutes and pull when the salt is right.

I like the salt level already in Cajunland with liquid, couldn't deal with that level of salt

You miss the part where i said we taste test and pull when we like the salt level?

I have never, in my life, boiled a salty crawfish.

I'm more garlic, onion citrus, and seasoning.

The salt is an afterthought.
