Braxton was swimming in the Creek at the neighbor’s house, when he was crawling out the water, and a water moccasin launched at him and struck him in the face, his brother Trey saw the snake launch at his n snatched the snake off him and tossed it away. Prayers to that little boy and his family. He will probably never go in a creek again.
Then to have to deal with this on top of his injury.

But because of the costs of storing, preparing and administering the drug, Shands charges about $20,000 for one vial of CroFab. That "typical" snakebite Baines described could put a patient back about $160,000 before insurance, which offers variable coverage.

Heard about this while I was in Hburg for the weekend. Hopefully the little guy pulls through and makes a full recovery.

We should find those people and get them to start a fund to help with the bills. I would help out. It would be my part in the war over the devil himself.

I think there's a GoFundMe refined in the article, but there's no link.

I got bit by one of those nasty bastards on the elbow when I was in high school. They didn't give me the anti venom, just filled me full of antibiotics. It's insane how fat my arm got. Prayers for this poor kid, he's going to go thru some misery.

You know, nobody likes rattlesnakes, but we ought to respect them. They generally give you a warning if they know what's up. Most folks who get bit either step on a sleeping/resting one (nobody's fault) or are fricking with it (human's fault).

But frick cottonmouths. They're are silent, they blend in and are highly aggressive in low lying areas or in the water. Prayers sent.

I say again, frick cottonmouths.

How the hell is antivenom that expensive? Common sense capitalism would seem like they could get it cheaper?

For one, someone in say Birmingham could store a ton of it and have a leer jet ready 24/7 to fly anywhere in the south in 2 hours for less than $10,000.

Prayers for the kid

We had a guy get bit by a rattlesnake this past deer season in south Texas at our company lease and they said the treatment was gonna run around $200,000.

I would ask the doctor for more venom if my bill was 200k.

storing preparing and administering? Can't be much more than a refrigerator, a syringe, and shaking the damn vial if they have antivenin in remote Africa and South America. What a sham, 20k is probably with a 19.5k profit

I've ruined quite a few deer hunts back in the day when I came across cottonmouths while walking to my stand. Blew them away every time. Turned around & went home.
