The commercial pipeline that each year brings $1 trillion worth of toys, clothing, electronics and furniture from Asia to the United States is clogged and no one knows how to unclog it.

This month, the median cost of shipping a standard rectangular metal container from China to the West Coast of the United States hit a record $20,586, almost twice what it cost in July, which was twice what it cost in January, according to the Freightos index. Essential freight-handling equipment too often is not where it’s needed, and when it is, there aren’t enough truckers or warehouse workers to operate it.

As Americans fume, supply headaches that were viewed as temporary when the coronavirus pandemic began now are expected to last through 2022.

Looks like no more huge cooler orders on the horizon.

Non-perishable food, bottled water, paper goods, medical supplies and ammo are pretty much the prepper mainstays.

Self-sustainability is also key. Grow a garden and raise some chickens.

Average Americans have no idea. We make a lot of our own fertilizer, nutritionals, and surfactants for the farm. Get raw materials shipped in from Australia, China, Israel, etc… It is straight hot garbage, and you’ve got to be on your shite when it comes time to order.

The roundup market is really wild too. I’m attempting to stock pile enough to spray our entire farm 5 times next year and I can’t track any down. I need like 4500 gallons and have maybe 700 in the shed with about a 40% markup. But I went ahead and took it because there’s talk of it going to $60/gallon, which is 3x what we normally pay for it.

I was quoted a fertilizer price a couple weeks ago and it was almost 3x what we paid last year.

Dollar Cotton ain’t what it used to be.

Maybe it's a bad idea to be dependent on China?

Listening to the AG and chem/seed guys, the upcoming year is looking hairy.

Worse than 08 and is going to cause major disruption in the food supply/cost.

Any good idea on what the main cause for the backup is? I am hearing it is the port authorities, there is no shortage or Longshore or dock workers.

Since the major ports from China are all in California, I'd bet the state is actively causing the problems because it is so corrupt and inept.

Michael Burry has already predicted a global crash is coming and shorted Tesla and many other big time stocks. Invest in discount brands and invented in numerous discount brand companies.

Why do I need bottled water? My water line going dry?

We've whored ourselves out to China and it bit is in the arse.

That manufacturing needs to be moved to Mexico and Central America. That kills two birds with one stone.

Exactly. Americans have become so dependent on Chinese imports that goods can’t be unloaded and delivered fast enough. Off the coast of Los Angeles, there are close to 100 cargo vessels anchored with no definitive date when they will be unloaded. This problem has gotten bad since Covid, and is gonna get worse
