Convince me to buy a kayak for fishing.

I am hesitant at the moment when it comes to buying. Not sure what brand I would get either. Just sick of having to drive to covington to get the boat only to drive right back to New Orleans with it.

Anyone who doesn't have a kayak is gay
But seriously I don't own one so I can't help you much with brands, etc. I will say that if I had to get something to fit in my truck bed without a motor for fishing, I'd definitely get a kayak. If you had a little extra change to throw at one it would beat the hell out of bank fishing when you don't feel like making the trip for the boat

Cheaper than a boat.
Exercise
Can get in places a boat can't
Throw it in the bed and go instead if hooking up the boat filling it up parking it back after your done.

Rent one or borrow one for a bit and try it out.

I plan on trying to get to a demo day so I don't waste money on something I won't like.

No, it's a Pelican Castaway from Academy, 11'. It's a cheapo, but it is a fishing kayak. I have two canoes I fish out of more often, including a fiberglass tunnel hull that's so stable I can stand in it and throw a cast net, use a push pole, or just sight fish. I use it a lot more than the kayak. But the bottom line is, I didn't pay more than $400 for any of them, and they have all received more fish slime than most people's bayboats.

This is the canoe at the launch in Reggio. I installed the seat bases and "center console", and I can actually stand on the center section, comfortably. I bought it used from a guy in Alabama for $300, and added about $150 dollars worth of material and my priceless labor. Sumbitch is a bit heavy though...over 90 lbs. But you can see how scrawny I am, and I can load it by myself on my ladder rack. (That's right, my truck has a nice rack)

A stand up paddleboard is where it's at now.

She did.
By the way, this is her standing in that canoe...a CHICK standing in a canoe. Stable sumbitch.

Does the girl come with the first one? If so I'll be going pick mine up today

If I bought one I would be most likely fishing Reggio, since I'm already kind of familiar with hopedale, Reggio, and Delacroix. Reggio seems like the ponds are closer to the launch.

Yep, and not as much boat traffic. You may have noticed the 'safety tape' on the side of my yak. I also have one of those orange bike flags on it. In the canoe, I just stand up if I hear a boat coming that I know can't see me. But at Reggio, it's usually not very busy...except duck season, and yeah...you can be on fish in about 500 yds or less paddling.
