So I have a G27 I like to carry on my ankle.
I also have a Minotar IWB holster but I just don't like it in the summer.

I'd like to buy a smaller HG, pocket sized for
A more comfy carry.

What cha got?
And
Can I shot it?
:)

ETA at cabelas I saw the kimber carry, the Kahr and the Ruger small hand guns.
Need feed back on your preferences and why.

SenseiBuddy,
There's a whole industry built around pocket carry 380's. If that's what you want, take your pick from your research. The more common pocket 380's that come to my mind include: Ruger LCP, Kel-Tec 3-AT, Diamondback, Taurus TCP, S&W Bodyguard, I.O. Hellcat, Magnum Research Micro Desert Eagle, Sig 238 and I'm sure, many others. I think serious self defense calibers start at 9mm. Many disagree, but many more will agree.

Snub nose revolvers also make a fine pocket carry gun. Some of the smaller 9mm semi-autos can also be carried in front, cargo pockets of many, but not all, pants/ Such guns include the Kel-Tec PF9, Kahr CM9, Taurus Slim, Diamondback and Ruger LC9.

If I HAVE to pocket carry, my first choice is my Kel-Tec PF9. If my clothes force me to carry something smaller, it's going to be my Kel-Tec 3-AT. I'm uneasy w/ the idea of pocket carrying a gun w/ an exposed hammer; I worry about the exposed hammer snagging during a draw from the pocket.

Thx Tiger.

I do not want a hammer. I want a semi auto hammer less gun. Also I agree that it seems that the 380 is the most popular in the pocket size market. I also agree that 9mm would be more effective/popular as a SD weapon.

I'm new to the pocket sized game hence I'm asking those who are more experienced.

I'm ready to buy, but I want an educated purchase.

If you could find a good used Kahr cm9 or pm9 that would fit the bill you're looking for. I say used because Kahr recommends some break-in period or some crap

I have shot the S&W bodyguard, and think it is a nice piece. I went to the gun show in Kenner yesterday and put my hands on a LCR and LCP. The LCP felt extremely unbalanced to me, while the LCR felt like it should have. All of the weight was in the slide/barrel and it felt very awkward.

I am the type that unbalanced guns drive me nuts, so TIFWIW

SenseiBuddy,
If you're looking for a handgun that will fit ALL pockets, then you're going to be limited to something that will be chambered in 380. If you're selective about your pockets, then you can upgrade to some of the very small 9mm's. I forgot to mention the Kimber Solo in my earlier list of 9mm's that can be carried in many pockets. Probably same thing for the Beretta Nano. The Kahr CW9, S&W M&P Shield and Bersa 9BP CC are probably too large to fit in most pockets. Since I bought my Kel-Tec PF9, I've bought a Kahr CW45. After having shot and carried the CW45 a lot, if I were looking for a pocket carry 9mm, I'd give a VERY LONG look at the Kahr CM9.

Before buying one of these very small 9mm's try to handle and shoot them. The recoil of these small guns is very noticeable compared to a full sized 9mm.

Anyone have a Kahr P380? Would like your thoughts on it.

Don't know about the P380 by Khar but I remember finding a lot of bad reviews on the micro 9's and 40's. Had a buddy that had one and had nothing but trouble out of it. Had to send it back to the factory multiple times. Said he liked all their compact and full size but would never buy another of their tiny subcompacts again.
