I just got a 2023 Chevrolet 2500HD truck and I need to find a good location for my handgun. It has the folding down middle section with storage under the seat, but this location is not easy to get to. The door is a possible location being there are a lot of sections, but I would need to secure it there somehow.

Anyone find a perfect location for a handgun on this truck?

No place to the right of the steering column to mount a magnet?

I use this.

It's made by Gum Creek Holsters. Works great, and fits almost any vehicle. And I don't have to worry about the adhesive from a magnet peeling away during the summer in this high heat. Plus I don't have to drill into the plastic underneath my steering wheel column.

It's safe and very secure. Allows for quick retrieval, if necessary.

I have a 2021 2500 and I have a magnet mount on the right side below the steering column. Keep my G45 in it.

I bought an under desk holster thing and attached it in my center console. Works great

I've always been against door carry. If someone opens your door, they now have a gun.

You have bucket seats with a different type console.

Is it a flat magnet or the type where the handgun slides into?

I will check into this, but my truck has a tilting and telescoping steering wheel and this part is different.

As far as Florida law, it's not concealed carry if it's in your truck, home, boat, etc; only on your person.

It sucks being a lefty if I ever have to shoot out of the driver's side. I'd probably just shoot with my right hand at that point.

Does your truck have the console that goes all the way to the dash, that has 2 cup holders and a tray?

If it does … grab hold of the cup holder/tray portion and give it a good tug up. It’ll pop loose and you have a huge area to mount a lockable box/holster/etc.

No, it does not.

There is a space in the middle between the seat and dash.

Just recently came across this molle panel that attaches to the seat frame using the factory hardware. Decent option if you don’t want to permanently attach something to the dash.

10-4.

I misread your post anyway. I thought it was a 2003. I’m poor and have no clue how the new models are set up.

My bad.

The Gum Creek will not work on my truck, being the hook is to small for my dash.

I do have an ample about of space on either side of the steering for a magnet mount. I have one that I got a few years ago I will try out. It is a flat magnet.

Mine did and does as well. Wasn't an issue for either vehicle.

Call them - they are a small company and you can most likely reach someone who can make a decision. They may be able to substitute a bigger hook for your dash.

If you strike out here, I recommend that if you live in a hot environment, use a magnet that has the ability to screw into it. It sucks because you will mess up your under dash, but I simply don't trust the magnets by themselves, as I had come back into my vehicle and saw my pistol on the floorboard. This was after cleaning the dash with rubbing alcohol and waiting 24 hours before applying the pistol to the holster.
