Climate Change

While I do not believe in man made global warming, I do believe that our planet (or at least North America is in a warming trend). I'm 52 and can remember waiting on the school bus in northeast Louisiana and skating around on ice covered mud puddles at the end of our gravel drive.
And it seems to have picked up steam over the last 20 years.
I've been hunting southern Illinois for about 15 years now and have witnessed changes in the whitetail rut as well as duck numbers early in the season. When I first began hunting that area, prime deer hunting was the first week of November. Over the years, I've seen this become later and later. Now I understand that biologist will tell us that rutting activity isn't based on the weather, rather the amount of daylight. And while I'm sure these folks know what they're speaking about, I will also tell you that I see more deer activity during cooler or cold weather versus warm weather.
It takes longer each year for our ducks to make it down (just like Louisiana), which in my opinion is a direct result of the lack of ice out conditions up north.
So my question is this.....is it time for Wildlife Agencies to begin moving hunting seasons later into the year? Instead of deer season opening on October 1, move it to October 15 or later? It just seems that by moving the seasons, we may all be able to enjoy better hunting.

I’m 44 and I remember as a kid riding my bike Santa brought me down the chimney on Christmas Day in shorts and a t shirt. It’s called weather.

Cognitive dissonance at its finest.
Carbon dioxide let in sunlight which turns into hear, but does not let the heat escape into the upper atmosphere. Just like your car with the windows up let's sunlight in which turns into heat, but the hear cannot escape.

Wasn't last year one of the coldest on record for much of louisiana? Pretty sure
Also, rut is based on genetics and moon. Our rut starts 1-2 weeks after gun season starts in my area. I also like hunting in colder weather and have pretty much given up early bow season because I just don't enjoy sitting in 90deg weather and definitely see fewer deer.
If they moved ours back 2 weeks the rut may or may not be during rifle season. I'm not for that at all

So you don't believe the data that tells us that we're in a warming period?

Please explain...... this should be good.

I am about the same age and I am 100% sure that the weather as a whole is warmer than it was when I was a kid. I don't know what caused it and, frankly, have no interest in the politics of it all...but I have no doubt that the world has warmed.

I'm 70 and can remember summers with days over 100, not just one or two. I can remember 10 degrees in February and 80's in February. It's weather. There are cycles that run in short medium and long cycles. The oceans hold thousands of times more energy (as heat) than the atmosphere. They control our temps a lot more than a little plant food. We are about at the end of a long normal warming trend and will start a long term cooling trend. In the future (and I and not predicting how many years) you will be begging for global warming. And man's activity does not and can not effect it.

First time I've heard this argument for anything other than ducks, and it's still stupid. What difference would moving the season back 2 weeks have made this year?

And there is a difference between weather and Climate

It makes sense to ponder climate change. I am a geologist by profession and education. Read Wikipedia or some more scholarly source for a description of Paleocene Epoch which was about 60 million years ago. Yes the earth is at least that old and there was life on the planet in many ways similar to but also quite different than now. There was an ocean where most of us Texas/Louisiana baws live now. It was cool and then it got hotter and then things changed into the next Epoch the Eocene. Animals thrived and many went extinct and most ultimately changed (evolved) into what is here today. Man don't really worry about climate change. Just either adapt or go extinct. Do your part to conserve energy and keep your space clean. But man don't sweat it. Remember, if humans don't make it, there will be something here to replace us!

Well... I have photos from Sabine Lake of my moms family on pleasure island n Port Arthur, TX. There is a mini 3 step seawall a few miles long for people to fish and crab. That bottom step occasionally had algae on it and was slick.... usually bone dry. Same thing is true today. So here we are 50+ years later and there I no noticeable change in ocean height. That bottom is nowhere closer to water than it was 50+ years ago.
In fact we still use the same boat launches in Lake Calcasieu, Sabine, Galveston, West Matagorda, and on down the coast that I used as a kid. Where is all this rising ocean?
Basically these “scientists” are facing I-10 with their eyes closed. They open and shut them quickly and see a red F150 moving. From that 1 second glimpse they claim to be able to tell us with certainty the entire travel history of that truck and exactly where that truck will be going until it dies. Laughable and absurd.

I am not going to get into the climate change debate and what caused it blah blah blah
BUT, if that if seawall steps with some algae on it for the last 50 years and being able to use the same boat ramps over the last 50 years is your argument against sea level rise then you just keep on keeping on baw

Oh don’t worry about that.. I plan on it. Damn sure not going to worry or buy into something that is completely without proof.

CO2 is heavier than the gases that make up 99% of the atmosphere. It is falling to the bottom of the atmosphere, not making an outer radiant barrier.

First time I hear about this.
