How do they know at what time and who caught the fish? Like couldn't someone sign up for the tournament after catching the fish? Do they polygraph these people or something?

Do you even star bro

All star winners are subject to a polygraph

Also congrats on being the third unregistered person to catch a a tagged fish

You have to bring the fish to an official check station. They can tell how long the fish has been alive/ dead and there is a potential polygraph test for a fish that is to take the lead in a category. You can't try and trick frick the system with the payouts they offer. It really is pointless to drop a hook in the Gulf of Mexico or adjacent marsh areas without paying the $50 entry fee.

I didn't catch one FWIW I'm on my way to Sabine right now and plan on fishing specks at night and reds during the day. None of us are registered though. Just curious.

Go online and register. You'll get an email showing the time you entered the tourney and you're good to go from there on.

Even if you're fishing for one day, it's not worth missing out on a new boat or truck.

That's nuts, pull over at a CCA station and register or do it from your phone. It's crazy not to IMO. It's 50 bucks and the money goes to coastal conservation and the prizes are pretty damn good. Truck, boats, gift cards, rods and reels, etc.

You pull a nine pound spec out of Sabine and you're going to kick yourself.

Although I get the sentiment of saying everyone who fishes should register, I don't agree. Do you play the lottery everyday? Some would say its stupid to not throw up a dollar for the chance to win a million. I register and get why people do, but I don't think its absurd that some don't.

I play the plwerball every time there's a drawing. On April 20, 2000, I had four numbers and the powerball. My last number was an 18 and the winning number was a 16. The difference between $5,000 and 58,000,0000 at the time most likely saved my life. I wasn't ready to become a multi-millionaire at that point in time, but you bet your arse I am now!!

Not really like the lottery, if you don't play the lotto you don't experience potential heartbreak if you don't play. Here, you catch a fish and you're not entered

There are a few dates that I will always remember in my life. That day is one of them. I had taken the semester off of college to collect my thoughts and was working for a valve company and was on the clock 31 hours straight when I checked the ticket in the local newspaper. I thought it was the 100k ticket and quit my job right there on the spot. I called my Dad and told him I was quitting the job he got for me because I was headed to the lottery office. He went with me and we were both equally as disappointed when we found out it was only 5k. That disappointment didn't touch his dismay when I blew through that 5k like a bus load of figs by May 1st, however.

I realized I needed to get my arse back in college directly after that and re-enrolled that summer session, thankfully. I made some damn good friends going back to college and wouldn't trade that experience/ years/ friendships for 58M dollars today.
