That seems like a lot of work when the plain ole white ivory soap has always worked fine for us.

Why won't you eat catfish out of a river?
You never know about the water.
And hell, they're eating soap!?!
I'm too spoiled eating catfish (and other fish) out of a pond where I know the water is ok.
Edit to add: I'm so going to take a bar of Ivory with me next weekend.

River cats are like 20 times better than pond cats.

Yeah, but then the catfish are eating mexican soap, and that is even more worrisome.

That pink mexican soap! Thats what my FIL was trying to tell me. I swear to God I thought he was telling me to use a mexican for bait. I need Rosetta STone for rednecks when Im at his house. He said that works much better than ivory

Just makes them spicy when you eat them. Helps for flavoring

Ponds and lakes can build up heavy metals and chemicals just as bad as a river will, at least the flow means it turns over faster.

Yeah cuz stagnat pond water is so much cleaner than river water.

What were they feeding the pond cats? Feed them a good quality feed and let them get nice and fat. Then have them frying within 30 minutes of biting the Ivory and they can't be beat.

I think I've seen some at the local dollar stores and similar places. I dont think the big box stores are gonna carry it.
