They are uniformly smaller than bluegill and easier to catch along the bank. The bright colors may add to their allure. Best op bait ever. Way better than baby buffalo.

You catch them with cast nets?

Do you bait them live or cut them up?

I have many many questions as i have only been a jug runner for a couple years.
I have always used catalpa worms and cut bait.
Looking to up my game.

I'll give you all the bluegill you want. Just take them out of my pond.

What?

How could you possibly have a fear of catalpa worms?

I dated a girl for years and her mom would always get these by the bucket load and do some crazy shite where she would boil them and freeze them ( or something like that)

All catalpa worms are caterpillars

All caterpillars are evil

I ran a ton of lines growing up and have used a lot of stuff with success. The one thing that we always did best on was small crawfish. We would take a dip net with small holes and run it through the ditchs and keep the smallest ones that were soft. For some reason we always caught the most off of I49 at the meeker exit

The only way I fished from 6 yoa to 5th grade. 5 rods set at a time on diversion canal, Bayou Rapides and Beouf and CLECO lake.

For me it was lines out at night on cocodrie and beouf. We put out 200 hooks every sat night and picked them up and made it home in time for church sun morning.

ETA: this was more like 12yrs old to 18.

I've thought about drifting the Amite around the Diversion like that. Not sure how well I'd do though.
