Thats only the second one we've caught, third one we've seen, but all in the same area...

Father in Laws place on Bayou Lacroix, Bay Saint Louis, MS

We kept one for about a year with the same coloration that got pretty big on a diet of live mice...was costing us a fortune , so we sold it to the local pet shop that was selling us the mice...needless to say we didn't break even

There's currently a guy in Meridian Ms hospital thats paralyzed from being bitten by a coral snake just over the border in Alabama. The article said he his kids found a snake in the yard and he mistook it for a kingsnake.

Thats a rotten bit of luck. Get bitten by a snake that is rare enough that many outdoorsmen spend their whole lives without seeing one.

I'd rather mice control outside

Go buy her one. You can get a normal corn snake for less than $20 if you go to the right place.

Win win.

Good mice control?

If I turn loose in barn will it wreck shop on mice or die because it’s somewhat domesticated.

See, this is why you got to kill all that resemble Coral snakes.

You cant trust your ability to recall a rhyme when your ability to breath is at stake. I can barely remember my home phone number now a days.

Not a great idea because:

1. It's illegal to release captive bred snakes.
2. The captive snake could possibly introduce a disease and kill your local snakes, which would really give you mouse problems. And that's why #1 is true.
3. It could also screw up genetics since there are various "localities" and sub species of most snakes, and the one you buy is likely not going to be from your specific region.

The coral snake rhyme varies from person to person, but the general premise is the same: Red touch black, safe for Jack. Red touches yellow, kills a fellow. The coral snake will have bands of red touching smaller bands of yellow. It is very uncommon to find a coral snake

My dad has killed 2 in the last year in his yard. Big ones too, ~ 30".

Oh, intellectually you are 100% correct. But killing jack or killing a fella get way too damn confusing when I see a colorful snake. Not saying I am right, but I aint always cool under pressure when it comes to snakes.

You should see a spider web hit my face in the early morning walk in

When I caught my first La. Milk or Scarlet Snake(I can't remember which it was), I had to repeat the saying eleventy times before I would actually touch him. Yes, I was that scared.

I had a corn snake growing up. Great pet, but snake shite is gross. He got loose in the house for about 3 weeks and my grandma refused to come over. Dog found it under my parents bed at about 3:00am.
