These efforts also include considering possible legislative changes and corrections to existing law that would support and protect Louisiana’s reputation as a “Sportsmen’s Paradise.”
Are they going to finally etch in stone at the capitol "If it's brown, it's down"? Or "Thou shalt toss every bud light can and cigarette butt out of your boat"

I was able to discuss this with two lawyers yesterday that are involved in the case. Both sides have asked for rehearing.
One of the guys said there's some talk about a federal doctrine that would wipe all this away. Something about this all being federal land the whole time and that Louisiana has/had no business ruling on it in the first place. I'll update if I hear more on it.

I don't know what you're asking. Are you using a flip phone to post here?

LOL.,... The Cathoula game and fish preserve which rules the hunting of the lake

Nah, either the Corp or fish and game would take over.

Alx, you hear anything on this? Guy at work said there was a ruling on it yesterday and it's all private. I can't find anything current.

I was just thinking about this last week, and no, I have heard nothing at all. Not sure what would remain to rule upon, but I will do some digging.

OK, so the original judgment that went all the way up was more conceptual than practical, so the plaintiffs filed a motion asking for the trial court to mark the actual boundaries(normal low water mark). A judgment was rendered on the 10th by the trial court in the 9th JDC, but it is not yet available for me to read on the clerk's site. I will keep looking.

The judge ruled yesterday that the mean low water elevation is 24.08’. The lake bottom elevation is 27’. How the hell does that happen you ask??? The 24.08’ came from a gauge on the Diversion Canal… not the lake. This whole deal stinks of backroom shady deals… from the reclassification of Catahoula Lake to a river and now this crap!!

They've been out marking property lines for a few weeks now. Some peoples blinds won't be affected is what I have heard from them, but the majority of the lake...errr I mean "Little River spill off" is now going to be private. Get ready for the biggest amount of guide services in one area ever
ETA: id have to double check but I'm pretty sure one of the appellate (or lower court) judges out of Rapides was an ad hoc Justice on the LASC case when it got that far. The guy who brought the case has been dreaming of a road through that area to get to Alex faster for a long time and bought land specifically to try to bring this case.

Sell parking passes at Stocks Landing
Was always a shite show in the 80's and i can only imagine what this ruling will do to amplify that.
Can't say that i don't find it funny the old heads at Nebo are pulling their hair out over this.

definitely gonna be a shite show. I imagine alot more people will be out on the NWR and at Dewey now. TBH, birds haven't been that great the last decade, a few good years mixed in but nothing like the 90s and early 2000s. Its definitely been extremely crowded. Can always get a lease at Kitterlin Creek and I'm sure there will be alot of people leasing but in all honestly this was about mineral rights imo.

It's going to have to be related to Little River as it flows through the lake. I'm sure there will be yet another appeal.
