Carolina rig bass fishing in Louisiana

I’ve been having a lot of luck with the Carolina Rig set up and a 5” Senko pond fishing here in North Texas. I’ve caught a lot of good sized largemouth with this method in the past few months popping it up and letting the Senko wiggle down after the weight hits the bottom.
The lakes, I am fishing in are rock, sand, and sometimes even concrete bottom lakes, so the water is pretty clear isn’t a lot on the bottom to tangle or grass up my rig.
Has anybody had success using the Carolina rig in Sourh Louisiana? The few times I’ve tried my rig gets caught on something or gets full of grass nearly every cast. Also, it is more difficult to precision cast with a Carolina rig, tossing under trees and limbs can be difficult, which I feel like is necessary in the bayous I’m usually fishing in LA

What kind of weight are you using? If you’re around grass use a bullet weight.
Personally, I don’t like Senkos on c rigs, I use various soft plastics, but Senkos sink too quick even when you pop it off the bottom.
Use a leader about 18” long at best

I use a bullet weight and generally give 24-36” not 18 I seem to have more success that way.
Makes sense on a slower sinking plastic in LA, the water isn’t as clear and the bait isn’t as easy to see on the bottom. It seems like ~60% of my hits actually come once the worm has settled on the bottom for a second after I pop it

There's a lot of components to get all bogged down in the grass on a carolina rig, most throw a c-rig on hard bottom. Most would throw a un-pegged texas rig if they're fishing a grass flat and not pitching/flipping grass. It'd be more forgiving I'd imagine.

Fish mostly marsh areas in SE La - never utilized c-rig. Always wondered how it would work with all the grass.

There's better options than a C-rig for grass. Most C-rig setups use anywhere from 3/8oz-3/4oz weights not counting the beads, swivels, etc. That's a heavy rig to drag thru vegetation.

Yea seems like C-Rig in South LA bayous and marshes is just probably a no go

My cousin brought me to grand lake in the spillway and we anchored the boat about 100 yards ish off the tree line, at the mouth of a slough.
We wore the bass out with Carolina rigs. I don’t remember what worm we used though. Spillway had that 14” rule back then, and we didn’t catch a limit of 14’s. But we caught a whole shite ton of bass.
