We don’t allow gloves or wedding rings on our farm because of the danger of them hanging up in moving equipment. Guy we know was working in a machine shop and wearing gloves that ended up getting caught in a pipe bender and pulled his hand in and crushed his fingers.

I’ve operated on a few of those injuries. Hopefully all his nerves are intact.

They try to make us wear gloves for everything at work. I got into a big argument with management a long time ago because I refused to wear gloves around the bench grinder and electric motors.

After he went and educated himself, he admitted I was right.

RIght type of glove for the job, and sometimes that means no glove.

Local John Deere mechanic was working around a battery on a tractor the other day and his wedding band arced the battery out and damn near burned his finger off.

You should never wear gloves around rotating equipment. If the glove catches, your hands are gone.

After working ER for 13 years, I’ve seen a lot of similar and worse injuries to fingers/hands.

Saw a 19 y/o get the entire palm and most of fingers degloved by an old potato peeler that they were using to skin catfish.

Deglovings are nasty. Had a kid deglove his nose from driving a 4 wheeler into some wire. You could take the tip and touch his forehead. Surgeon did an amazing job sewing it up.

This is company policy for us. No gloves using a threading machine or drill press.

this also happened to a friend of mine in Arkansas. The doctors did a great job saving his face and his girlfriend’s life.

Did this wearing a watch. Burns weren’t severe but Was bad enough to peel the skin off everywhere the watch was touching my skin
