They just showed on the news they are all over the beach in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. I used to not give a damn about them fishing, although they got me a few times swimming. But for some damn reason their tentacles often stick to it get caught up in braid line and that’s a nasty surprise when fishing because when that happens they usually end up getting the fisherman stung

You live in Arkansas, this dude puts his time in on the Alabama coast. So I believe him

I've lived here a long time and have also had these jelly fish around my legs and torso, it was no joke

Take your 8 hour trip once a year and gives us your tax dollars, this county doesn't need any more visitors but it's paradise to you people

Why is that doubtful? I have family in south Alabama, every other one of them has been hit by a man o war. It's not uncommon.

I have been stung multiple times by them. Sucks. Worst part is the cramps.

Just ignore this guy. He does this same douchey, naysayer schtick in almost every thread he posts in. Adds nothing of value to any threads.

The Portuguese man o' war (Physalia physalis) is a siphonophore, a group of animals closely related to jellyfish. It's a colonial hydrozoan that lives in the open ocean and is often called a jellyfish.

That’s what.

But it’s not a jelly fish. It is closely related to a jelly fish.

Do you think the man-o-war is deadly or something? Painful, sure, but not typically deadly.

There had been several posted in MS FB pages over the last couple months. Glad it's now and not in the summer...

Only twice before have I had the good fortune to observe a rubber tide, that rare occurrence when hundreds of electric jellyfish spontaneously wash onto a beach head at once.

I hate it when it’s snotty and trolling.
They get all over the lines and tear up exposed skin when reeling in and messing w lines. It like they go through a blender and are just everywhere.
Anchor and outrigger lines included.
