Hell yes. Just don't get caught popping one. Goes great when you can add a turtle from a ditch with it too.

pet moosh = wet fart

Ja pay tay = I farted

Caspalet = broken paddle or someone that isn't all there

Cooyon = crazy

tet dur = hard head

maraguin = mosquito

pecay twa = frick you

I've only met a couple of true cajuns in my life. The last one was the father of a lady I used to work with. He was extremely hard to understand, at least for me expecially when he would put his nouns before his adjectives.

My grandparents generation was the last of the cajuns to have french as a first language. Very sad how quickly the language died in Terrebonne Parish.
You hardly ever hear it spoken anymore.

When I first moved out to California I used the word Lagniappe to describe some extra money I was putting into a drilling AFE. My boss asked me what the frick I just said. And now he uses the word sometimes.

My dad would say "cest bête" whenever we did something stupid.

If you asked him where he was going he would always say "France ah cot pot." I thought that was an old man in town we always visited.

My aunt would call us "kah-nye" though I don't know what it means or what the root words might be.

Not sure how old you/your grandparents would be, but the "Cajunest" dude I ever knew (language wise), was the father of a man that, if he was still living, would be about 90 now (he's got kids that are pushing 60, and one of the kids has already died w/cancer).

Anyway, this old dude spoke English as a second language. I never heard him call this one guy we hung around with (Steven) anything other than "Estienne".

Also, you'd have never known this guy was wealthy. And he was LOADED. He only rocked old school oil and gas khaki's (same kind my granddad wore), drove an older truck, and anytime I saw him pay for anything, he pulled out a freaking wad of cash that looked like a head of lettuce.
