Bought a Browning Maxus 12ga several years ago but barely use. Went to get it out of the safe yesterday to loan to a buddy and it was sticky as hell on the forearm and stock. Read online that this is a known issue, even a pending class action lawsuit against Browning over the matter. The little bit I read gave no great solutions to solve the issue by either returning gun to Browning or a DIY solution. Anyone had same issue and found way to resolve?

Think you have to send it back to the company and wait for way to long to get it back/.

Couple of years ago I had a rifle stock that went sticky.

Called support and started a case. Never got an email or heard anything back.

About a year later a new stock showed up at my door.

I have a Browning gold 12 gauge with the duratouch camo finish and had it go sticky as well about two years back. I sent it into Browning and got it back 6-8 months later. On the plus side, they did put the newer camo finish on it which looks pretty slick and it didn't cost me anything other than shipping/insurance.

I've had mine about 10 years....it got sticky within the last few years.

I called Browning and they said send it back and they would take care of it. But the turnaround time was about 10 months. So I have not sent it off yet.

They did send me a new stock to put on it that isn't sticky.

My turnaround time was only 3 months I think. I was shocked when gun shop called me.

I own a Maxus I barely use that I expect I’ll have to fix at some point.

I was at the Browning repair facility in Arnold MO last week dropping of my buddy's A5 to get a new barrel and the guy ahead of me had this same exact issue.

This is crazy. Glad I found this thread. My bps has been sticky since last season. I thought it was from the light coat of oil I put on it. I’ll call and see about getting it replaced.

Found this

Sprayed down with bug spray for a dove hunt and where my cheek was on the stock had completely dissolved the duratouch, real boogery like. Scraped it all off with a knife between flights & finished up the job when I got home. It was black when it was new, and now its black again after some spray paint.

I have the same problem with a shotgun. Haven’t gotten around to calling them up yet.

I sent my gold back after Turkey season last year and it came back looking brand new before dove season..send it back as soon as you don’t need it anymore this year and you should get it back before you need it next year. There is No cost, no questions. I told them the problem and they said send it to us and we will fix it. If I remember they even sent me a prepaid shipping label And they put me a new white bb on the barrel where mine had chipped. I was pleased with it all. But I does take a while to get back.

Browning is cursed with stick issues lol, the salt dried stocks were a huge issue back in day.

Happened to me about to years ago.... what ever guy I talked to asked me what stock pattered I had.... which was missy oak duck blind. He said we might not have that anymore but let me put you in touch with our parts guy. They ended up having it and sent a new stock and forearm to my house with in two weeks..... nothing shipped to them what so ever. Might just need to get lucky and talk to the right guy there.
