I think the clear winner in this would be the dogs. Because they are getting to frick each other.

What HeadyMurphy is saying is correct. I can't remember which breed it was but they were predisposed to an eye disease that would render them blind. Well they looked good so everybody kept breeding them thinking nothing was wrong, a simple test would've proved otherwise, now after hundreds of years the entire breed has become blind.

ETA that's an extreme case though, breeding two badass hunting dogs will likely create 6+ new badass hunting dogs. Breed as you please, its your dog. But there are potential long term risks.

I pay attention to what comes from my house. I breed dogs because I feel like I have a desireable dog that other outdoorsmen would like to have and I like to see them work. Same reason that anyone else here would do it. People have been breeding dogs the way myself and others here do for all of dogs history with man. The problem with dog breeds is pet owners, not us.
