Had a guy ask me what I would charge to breed my catahoula to his tonight. I told him I'm not sure and let me think about it. I'm fine with breeding my dog, but what would yall say would be fair market value for dog breeding services? He offered a puppy out of the litter but I don't want another dog.

First dog he sells you get the cash. IDK

If you have faith that your dog will make good puppies, take the pick of the litter and sell it. Whatever you do, don't cock block your own dog, dog.

Owner of stud gets pick of the litter and a stud fee. Call a catahoula breeder and ask what stud fees usually run on curs.

Who needs the Lotto for katrillion bucks!
I'm just clueless about it and I don't really want another dog.

Yeah I really don't know what the stud fee would be. My FIL use to get 500 for his American bulldog I think.

man just tell him you don't want anything and let your dog give it to her.

Price of first puppy or pick of the litter was what I did.

Typical stud fee is the cost of a puppy. I haven't ever bred catahoulas but have bred labs and stud fees have ranged from $500-$1500.

I think the price of a puppy sounds fair. Thanks for the input guys.

New question, do I have to leave my dog there for a few days or is this a wham bam thank ya ma'am kinda situation?

Just a heads up. If your dog has never hooked up before, right now he thinks he knows what he wants, but really is not sure what that something is. Once he gets a taste,he could possibly put a lot more energy into finding more of that stuff.(harder to keep in the yard) Also might not change him at all. My two cents.

typical pay is pick of the litter...if you don't want one, then tell him to give you whatever he sells it for...

If she's good in heat and at the taking stage. You should be able to just have him there for like an afternoon or so and the deed will be done.

Leave him a couple of days. He might hit it several times & might not want to go back home with you

Typical is to leave the dog there for a few days to be sure. You typically want to breed on about day 11-14 of the heat cycle
