Some people want to bum off of BP because they couldn't fish their favorite spot for a few weeks.

BP, along with your dumbazz, needs to rot in hell.

Have you self righteous dipshits recognized how much money I have in my camp, set up and boat in Grand Isle, plus property taxes etc. And wasn't able to use it for an entire fishing season. Many more like me. Do the math. BP owes me much more than a few thousand dollars. frick them

AT, you've been groveling for insurance files too long. That can do to anybody what it's done to you. And you are wrong....Shakespeare had it right.

BP created the settlement requirements and purposely did not put language in there that would tie the $ directly to effects from the spill.
If you meet the criteria, live in the qualified areas, you can get a payout.
BP was told not to do this by the opposing legal team. They were told more than once not to do this.
This very issue is a major reason they were appealing and now have lost twice I believe.
I have had numerous people comment that if you qualify for a payment then why not get it and spend the money in louisiana. I tend to agree with them.
Now if you are too proud to fill out some paperwork and make a claim from a fund that was purposely set up to pay out to qualified individuals then that's your prerogative.
I worked the spill and made good money, looking back I should have quit my job and ran a boat and made GREAT money. BP also hired me to do some PR events much later.

Yup. Agreed 100%. If BP was dumb enough to make it that easy to get big $$$, then that's on them. Now the problem is BP is challenging/appealing near every claim and getting their "claim centers" to ask redundant/stupid questions over and over. Some of those places will hire anyone with a pulse to "review" claims.
Did you work directly for BP? I had an office job in Fourchon for a 3rd party - money was insane. Good times, sort of.

Yep! Put them right up there with the POS who uses food stamp money to buy beer and cigarettes.
True. This is one of the things that I can't fathom. If you had legitimate claims and lost business that's one thing but there are so many people nowadays trying to screw everyone they can, anytime they can it is disgusting
BP may not be a model company but don't act like you're doing some type of good deed by sticking it to them.
You're just trying to justify something that you know isn't right

It's been said many times in this thread.
That does not apply to the subject matter at hand. We are not discussing those who own/lease property in affected areas.

I was all over the grand isle area in the office and field doing inspections working for an eng firm contracted to BP.
I did not make crazy $ just my normal hourly wage, but all the guys in the room with me were making stupid rates.

Cool deal. I'm sure we crossed paths at some point. We were working and staying in Fourchon but frequented Artie's and Daddy's Money more than a few times

Made a habit of not going there. I think I was in there twice maybe 3 times in the extended time I was there

Read the thread before you throw a temper tantrum, kiddo. This was discussed several times.

I mean it's cool yall spend this and that on CCA (LUL) and whatever, but I'm pretty positive I spend both more money and hours on the water than most people here, and I think it's ridiculous. It's cool if you take it. If it's there, that's your prerogative. I'd just never do it myself because it's the same to me what I posted above, and I think the money should be put to other more productive recovery efforts.
Eh, I've heard that they are paying out $1K, and if someone who fishes often paid to keep they boat down in Venice for the year and couldn't fish, $1K is probably about right.
