Well, sorry. The fact is we fricked up when we made our law based on a map from 1812, a map from 18fricking12 that had no true legit areial fricking imaging that had navigable waterways listed as "wastelands", so therefore people were able to purchase this navigable waterway to begin with

No, no, no. The law is not based on a map. See, this is the kind of shite that forces me to post

You are much better off trying to work with landowners and the state to come to some sort of agreement.

This will NEVER pass without compensation to the landowners who legally (as it is written) own the land and water as it is now]

Look at some of the models out west where they have "walk in hunting areas" and things like that. Places where the public can hunt and the land owner has 0 liability if something were to occur

I know. It just pains me to know we made a law, and stuck with it, based on an imaging map of waterways from 1812. But hey, there is always Mississippi to be 50/50

And under the Texas law you would be able to sue those assholes

State owned waterways are 100% determined based on what was considered commercial navigable waterways in 1812.

Clearly, I am not inferring they grabbed a single map created in 1812....

But yes, the state reviewed both maps, and historical documents to determine this

But you are a dick, so who knows

Yes.

No, that was not clear.

There is no "this". It's a case by case basis with each question determined by whatever credible evidence exists.

It's amazing how often you can be wrong in one thread.

Which is my entire point. How can anyone think we had an truly accurate idea of navigable waterways back in 1812 with no aerial imagery and the marine technology available then. It is honestly absurd. I would love to know the actual amount of navigable waterway from 1812 was deemed "wasteland"

If you truly thought I was inferring the law was based off a map, like a singular map that was drawn, I think that is a reflection of you looking for "gotcha" moments. Which is exactly what you do

The owner of the property (Williams) is not planning on renewing their lease on the short canal they ties into the main channel that access the intracoastal,

Someone explain this to me....looking at the Terrebone Parish Tax Assessor's website...none of that land belongs to The Williams Family

Bob's Marina and the land it's on and the land around the canal is owned by:

right now it comes down to money. No body will beat the big oil companies. It will have to be some sort of compromise.

the problem is you always have those asshats that will trespass no matter what.

And on the bobs situation, yes it sucks for him, but I didn't see him fighting the fight until it affected his money.

10 minutes away by boat you can launch at a nice bob thibodeaux memorial launch. You don't need hip boats or a 4x4 either like at bobs.

Do the Williams have an easement past the Marina by land? Would be pretty ridiculous if they had an easement by land through the Marina but the Marina can't pass them through their waterway lol.

But frankly, its just bad business by the Marina. You have to know your lease is ending at one point and you need to take measures sooner.

My guess is the Williams either have bigger plans for that land in the future (their own marina) or they are just playing hardball because they know if the Marina doesn't pay up then they will close. That the Marina is saying they can't afford a bigger lease.
