Let's look at this random spot for example.

It makes sense to me to allow access to all of the dead-end canals here. But it gets cloudy, IMO, when you exit those canals into the marsh and ponds

But you are cool with me fishing in there as long as I don't duck hunt in there right?!

It's still tidal and "navigable". That's what we are fighting for right? If I can float it I can fish it correct?

Good example. My thoughts are dug canals should be open, but gate off the ponds.

As far as the Marina issue, what is the motivation behind not leasing a 100 yard stretch of waterway? just a burden on a big company? They dont need the money? the owner wants less fishing/hunting pressure in the area, so figured this should lessen the traffic?

I'd have to go back and read it, but I think it says something about its defined as low tide on the lowest day 100 yards away from shore or something, not sure though

I have a feeling most of the oil and land companies will start hating off all the waterways they own. This is a property rights issue and most likely a liability for the company as if they own the waterway they own the liability of the public utilizing them...

Without knowing anything about that area, currently I would assume ALL of that is currently not navigable by law. The exeption is if the biggest canal is actually Intercoastal Canal then only it is navigable by law.

no

This would make no sense at all, legally, to allow fishing but not hunting in the same place, the same way

If thats what You are fighting for, and not willing to concede things like access to ponds that are mostly enclosed by private property then I just can't see this thing moving forward

I gusss you could use the anchor feature on trolling motor, but as others have said, you anchor you’re trespassing. Not just in LA, but other states as well.

"Proposed law specifies that proposed law cannot be deemed to establish a change in ownership of
the bottoms and banks of any privately owned waterway, and that no watercraft powered by a
combustible engine may be used to navigate running waters over privately owned water bottoms and
banks of waterways in such a way as to cause damage to the bottoms or banks of the waterway."

so you cant get to my duck lease in a boat and the propeller not scrape up the bottom, baw.

So all the flatbills in gatortails and bass holes won’t be able to access the ponds without breakin the law anyway, so what’s the point?

Well shite. This bill does nothing then most the water bottoms that everyone is griping about wanting to be able to get into are privately owned

Read it wrong. Says you can't tear shite up in there is all

Man if continental ever decides to gate everything there won’t be many places for the public to go lol. However the fishing potential at my lease would be worth the price alone....
