This and if they are MFG. post 2005 they can handle ethanol. Ethanol in boats is no small consideration.

Definitely good to know.

Man, yall are some useful frickers.

My buddy has an 18 foot Lake Sport that is bad arse. We fish Lake Oshissa and Calling Panther in it and we have also caught limits of specks at the Causway and in Black Bay in it.

When choosing a new OB motor consider price, warranty, and weight.

Also the right dealer is important. He can make or break any warranty claims you might have...so choose wisely.

When I bought my 115 I figured that was a sales pitch but MAN, had no idea just how true I'd learn that to be. They are a lot more fuel efficient.

Unless they have an ocean or gulf near north LA, you don't need anything big.

I live in North LA
I bought a 22ft Xpress Bay and use it as much at Toledo as in Lake Charles.
Its great for White Perch fishing at night.
Lots of room and takes the waves way better than my buddies 21 Ranger Bass boat.
But for what you plan to do I would get something smaller.

What should I expect to pay for something 16-20ft with 60+hp?

I have twin 70hp zukes. I fish out of venice. Ive fished all day and rarely burn more than 20 gallons.

Now I'm only cruising at about 28-29 mph.

A lot less than me...
Look on the Louisiana Sportsman..Browse the boats
Lots of good deals.
But definately get a 4 stroke, although I heard soon thats all you can get.
My 150 Yamaha top ends from 48-52 and thats plenty fast.
Very good on gas too.
Only thing keep a towel over the air opening in the back when in storage or birds make nests in there

For aluminum I would be looking at Xpress, War Eagle ( despite the name), and G3. Probably missing one or two. I'd look at probably 16ft maybe 17s. And like others said pay up for a bigger motor. It would be worth it in the long run

I think Lund makes a pretty nice aluminum boat as well.

Our Nitro, back when we got it (probably 8 years ago or so) was right at 15k.

If and when I get a bigger boat, it will be an Xpress or Nautic Star.

In all seriousness, Cuz, check out Lund boats. They make some great freshwater package boats that can be used for fishing and taking the fam out for a spin on the lake.

Nice high sides to keep ERP safe.

Thanks brotha

It would be nice to have something you could guide thru the waterways on the Northshore as well.
