What is average yearly insurance on a $20,000 aluminum bass/crappie rig?

In my ranger aluminum it’s $240 with lower unit protection from damage or defects included with Progressive. My motor vehicle record clean which helps with boat insurance.

Good thread, I have a 26’ Hydra Sports CC with twin Yamaha 150’s. Bought last year for $32k. Probably dumb of me, but I didn’t shop insurance. Just called Allstate (who has our auto) and am paying about $1000/yr. seems high looking at the prices above. Are saltwater boats that much higher than bass boats?

Mines a 20’ bayboat that insurance valued at 25k. $1000 seems really high in comparison to prices I’ve seen.

Farm bureau. I have house and auto with them also so I’m sure there is a discount in there.

There is zero discount with FB and it’s only an actual cash value policy(depreciation applies), no mechanical breakdown, no uninsured boater protection. Former FB 9 year agent and their policy is shite honestly. Liability is also endorsed to your house which is always pas bon since a claim will affect loss ratio on house policy. UJD, find a specialty company like charter lakes, progressive, geico, anchor marine.

Would have the following companies quote and compare coverages;
Formost
Markel
Charter Lakes
Progressive
Geico
Agreed value is the only option with boats.

Going to work on that this week.

Do most policies cover attached equipment? Trolling motor, GPS, power pole..?

Yes, + fishing equipment. Just figure what you have in Hull/motor/add ons and trailer is usually $3,000-$4,000 in additional coverage.

AIG Insurance just started doing marine insurance last year and came on board with us.

I'm not sure about pricing though

Here's a link AIG

Are you familiar with them KS?

We write PC with aig but boats are such low margin business without auto/home I steer clear. Saying that, my book is 99% commercial anyway.
