Boat Gas, How long is too long?

I just bought a boat from Orlando. Friend says the 65 gal tank was topped off (nonethanol) and Staybil added but just over a year ago. I believe him. 225 Yamaha Four Stroke. Siphon it and start over or crank her and go? Any other recommendations?

If it burns go burn it all

Sta-bil advertises it keeps fuel good for 2 years, but i'm no expert with boat gas.

Non ethanol gas should stay good up to 6 months without treatment, seafoam says it keeps gas good for up to two years. The gas is probably okay, but being the skeptic I am, I would siphon what I could into an external gas tank, and use it for my shitty push mower, and refill my boat tank with new gas.
I've never ran ethanol in any of my boat motors, but if it went more than abut 3 months, I would transfer it to another tank to use with my push mower, and possibly the riding lawn mower, depending how old it was. I'm overly cautious when it comes to that.

This is what I was thinking as well. Siphon out 20 or 30cgallons, top off with fresh.

And while I'm at it, I have a place by my camp that sells nonethanol but it is 93 octane. I'm guessing 93 is good to top off a tank with older gas but if I fill the tank from near empty and plan to run it immediately, do I need to look for 87 nonethanol or will my 4 stroke burn 93 with no issues?

You won't have any issues, other than spending too much per gallon. The primary need for high octane is high compression. A regular motor can burn either and notices no difference. But a high compression engine designed for high octane will have issues with regular unleaded.

Uship guy probably already siphoned half of it out. Just top off with fresh.

Run it on the water hose for an HR. Chang fuel water seperator filter. Add a bottle of sea foam and should be good to go

You towing this boat from FL to LA? If so amadd some more stabil before you leave and by the time you get here it will be all mixed up an okay, may drop a quart or 2 of octane booster in it.
On the flip side, gas is $2 a gallon, draining and refilling will coat you under $150. That's worth it to me for the piece of mind.
