Screwed up and originally posted this question on that cesspool, the O-T.

What is the the Outdoor board's opinion on best type of trap and where to buy them?

TIA.

Where will you be crabbing? Metal traps are the best if you have the luxury of being able to leave them out and check many hours or a day later. If fishing off a pier, chicken on a string or circle nets will be your best bet. Could also use circle nets from a boat of course

Check Facebook marketplace for people in Chalmette making and selling them. Should be $30-40/ea fully rigged out with corks, and rebar inside for the big ones which I use.

If just from pier/seawall, get the cheap circle nets from Walmart/academy or just tie chicken neck to a string and pull in slowly. Plan on doing the same with my son in just a bit. Same area

Over in Ms you could try A&A Marine Hardware in Pass Christian. I'm sure there are other stores in Waveland/BSL/Pass that will have them as well.

Another option is Gus's in Slidell

That was just for the nets right? That didn't include rope and floats did it?

I have the same nets. I like them a lot.

Adam's fruit stand in Matthews. Get them soon because they opening less and less. I keep trying to catch him to get me another dozen, its hit or miss when they open.

If you know someone that works in a pipe shop and can get you some stainless tig rods they easy enough to make.
