I am looking for a pair under $200. Looking for 10x42... i was in between nikon prostaff 7 and nikon monarch 3, both are $150. Anyone know difference in these 2 and which is best? I would love to get the vortex ones for $129 at bass pro on sale black friday but not drivinh 2 hrs to nearest one. Thanks for any input. These will be used for big fields and pipe lines, no woods.

Watch Optics Planet. I bought the Diamondback 10×42s 2 years ago for $125 from them. Think it was right around Christmas though.

Monarch is a better line. 8x is easier to hold steady, but the 10x is nicer if you are trying to tell the difference between a doe and button buck a ways off.

Take a look at Celestron Nature 10x42. $105 at Amazon. A friend has these and they are really good for the price. There is also an ED version with better glass for $151. That would probably be my choice.

I'd go with Vortex Diamondback ($174 at Amazon) before the Nikons.

Nikon Monarch has a good overall reputation and you won't go wrong with them, I don't know anything about the Prostaffs.

10x42 is my choice for size as well. 8x42 is the most popular configuration but for what you'll be using them for it's worth having 10 power.

Hey Yeller you might want to look into Nikon dumping their sport optics division just incase you might need warranty repair/replacement in the future.

Get the Redfield Revolt 10x42.
Academy has them for $99.00.

You'll thank me and downshiftandfloorit later.

Leopold bought Redfield in 2010 I think. I was looking at buying the Nikon's but these are just as good or better for less money.

I got them from Cabela’s for the same and used a $100 gift card from credit card points. $25 out the pocket for decent 10x42’s

Any reviews on the Vortex Crossfire's? Not driving to Bass Pro for the Diamondbacks and Roger's is out of stock now (kicking myself for not finishing the purchase after adding to my cart).

I found the Vortex Crossfire HD's 8x42 with the Vortex GlassPak at Field and Stream for $112.49 plus tax, free shipping with their 25% off site wide sale....Not sure if they have them in store or not, otherwise I would go ride out there tonight in Lafayette to check them out. Worth it to get the Crossfire's instead of the Diamondbacks due to price? Mainly hunting in the woods and can't see more than 100-150 yards majority of the time.
