Same here.

Threw back a 3 lber in a pot tourney one time I caught with about 5 minutes to go. Fish hit a big crank but was only hooked on the outside when I lipped him. Partner said no harm , nno foul. I said no way, rules are rules...threw him back.

Small pot tourney but that fish would have ben both big fish and won us the winner-take all pot of almost $500.

I wasn't raised that way...

Pretty sure just about any tourney organization makes exceptions for foil hooked fish so long as they aren’t sight fished. Tons of fish caught on treble hook baits that aren’t hooked inside the mouth but weren’t intentionally snagged either.

Concur, but this was just a small pot tourney after a club night tournament. I honestly wasnt positive if the fish had swung n missed or if I had literally ran it into him as he hung suspended out over a creek channel.

But I understand your point completely.

That fish hooked outside the lip is coming in the well. That’s a legally hooked fish. Would be different if you were yanking a crank bait and hooked one in the side or a fin

Those California fish get huge due to the abundance of rainbow trout they feed on. I've always heard it's an amazing place to fish.

What state was this in? Because that's a legal fish in every state except California and maybe one or two of the northern states.

add to that the number of fish I've seen hooked in the mouth, while fighting them, and when they came over the side hooked outside the mouth..

That rule targets people sight snagging fish in shallow water. Not foul-hooked fish on a crankbait

The Muffin Man was/is a bad Hombre on land and water, no fish or deer is safe when he is around because jackpot tourneys abound.
Do You Know The Muffin Man who lives off Carlyss lane??

They got a bad rap and during the JM 2 day tournament someone found a stockpile of bass in a trap and nobody came forward
Those kids won a ton of tournaments last year from J Millers to False River
Hopefully they are really that good

Also, show me a pro or weekend warrior who, on multiple occasions, can catch +7lb bass and not make a sound until its in the boat.

Nope, I go to instant 12 year-old when a bass starts striping drag....and so does most everyone else.

Its fkn hilarious how much fiberglass boats and their owners trigger so many of y'all.

Here's a hint...dickheads own all kinds of boats. Stop painting everyone with the same brush.

Here in Michigan that wouldn't be a legal catch. Has to be inside the mouth. Because of salmon and steelhead snaggers all game fish have to be hooked inside the mouth. Dropshotting in rivers is illegal here for the same reason
