So they never just go away to another waterway? Say if I destroy their damn they will just rebuild?
Yeah they seem to love it!!!
As others have said most effective way is to kick out a spot that allows water to run and set a conibar. As for how many I caught four on a very small dam 5ft wide 30ft long. I have seen groups of six or more at other spots.

That gives me a little peace of mind. I was thinking dozens of these bastards

I’d guess no more than 10, but I was doing at least 3 nights a week over a couple of summers. They wise up fast once you start. I never talked to the trapper but I assume he caught some.
They do move areas…I’m not sure I killed them all, but for now they are off my property. I have no doubt they will come back if there’s a pair left.
They will probably have the portion of the dam you tore down today fixed by morning, or the next. Tonight would be the best night ever to shoot them.

They missed an opportunity to go white water rafting

Our hardware store in my small town keeps dynamite on hand for just that purpose.
We have a couple we have-to blow up every few years. People around these parts usually think it's an earth quake when we blow beaver dams.

First, you have to catch/kill them before removing the dam. Just placing a 330 in a dam break is going to lead to frustration from a lot of snapped traps and educated beavers.
If you plan on shooting, thermal us the ticket.
As far as Sonic Boom, it’s very effective when placed right. You have to keep it dry. 1.5 or 2” pvc with caps glued on. Takes about 1 lb per foot of pipe and I rarely use over 3-4 lbs.
Take a metal pry bar and force a vertical hole down into the dam. Shove the pvc as far as you can get it. Back off a safe distance behind cover and let her rip.

Seriously, They will go behind that short pipe that dude has and build another levee, then another and another.
We fought them for months, took 5 joints of 8 feet sewer pipe (40 feet) broke the damn and dug deep into the middle of damn & put our pipe in and covered it up so we had no rushing water. then went two both side and busted out to have rushing water for them to fix.
gotta get pipe out further and further.

Put a lockon up near the dam then destroy part of it before a full moon.
Late night sit with a 22

Tannerite from Academy.

I have dug out beaver dams and they come back. You have to find their hutch. Bring a drink and a good rifle with night scope. Shoot what you can. Wait for the worst week in Winter. Buy as much Tannerite as you can afford. Bury it deep as you can in the hutch and blow it. Set on fire and they will leave the area for a while. Watch for them to build new hutches in the area and burn ASAP. You have to stay on top of their mission.

We used dynamite. Not sure how my BIL got it but it worked really well

Any updates?
We must’ve convinced them to move (for now). Haven’t seen any on our place in months.
