I just got lit up like the 4th of July while cutting the grass. What's the best way to get rid of the little mfers? Gasoline, aerosol spray, powder? Thanks.

Not as cool as gasoline and lighting them but the easiest and cleanest is the following.
Find the hole they are going in during daylight, go back about 10min before dark and dump a 5gallon bucket of water mixed with dawn dish liquid go real heavy on the dish liquid like half a bottle.
Flood the hole slowly pouring the whole bucket of liquid into the hole.

I like the idea, but this is making me cautious.

I’ve run into 5 or 6 nests since I moved out to the country. They aren’t nearly as aggressive as I thought - unless you run over them with a lawnmower or something to really set them off. I’ve gotten within a foot of them with a weedeater before noticing them without being tagged.
I just wait until after dark and then empty a can of foaming wasp/hornet spray into the hole. Any that try to come out get bogged down by the foam.

Thank you good sirs. I appreciate the actual solutions.

Edit: did you guys dig up the hive after you killed them off?

Early morning or near dark.

Small bottle with long neck, fill about 1/3 with gasoline, place bottle neck first into hole blocking any escape.

Leave it a few hours or until morning. Any stragglers will be there trying to get in so carry a 25 ft wasp spray with you when you go.

If it will be in direct sunlight put a bucket or something over it.

I dug up a couple just to check them out.

They don’t return to the same nest in the future though.

It's crazy to think that bugs build something that seems so well designed and planned out.

At dusk I took a “bomb” bug spray thing, triggered it and plugged their access hole with it, but the nest was in a ditch bank. Dead.

I found a hole last weekend. Hit it with the dawn water that night, didn't see activity again until later in the week. I tagged it with the wasp spray, saturating into the hole multiple times and then another round of dawn water Friday night. My worry is there's a 2nd hole that is under the damn fiber/internet box thing, since the 1 hole is right next to that. Maybe they are smart like burrowing mammals to dig a path that allows water to flow away from the nest. I'm going to go rile them up now (hopefully nothing is alive to get riled) and see.

I had some in the outside wall of my house, sprayed them and they ate through the drywall to the inside. My wife was home with our month-old son at the time.

I've used a flame thrower attached with a long hose to a 5 lb butane (propane ?) bottle. I light the flame, point it toward the hole, walk toward the hole incinerating any that fly at me, then aim the flame down the hole for a while. I've done this several times and it works fine. Blasting them out of the air I find enjoyable. And it's quick.

Bucket of water for weight and a gallon cannif gas...

Pour the gas in and then set the bucket down over the hole and leave it.

Come back a day later and remove the bucket and pour the water in the hole.

The fumes will kill the shite out of then.
