I currently have a 2016 Silverado. Just replaced transmission 3 weeks ago. Now the lifters have gone out. Luckily it’s all been done under warranty, but I just feel I’m driving a sinking ship. This is the first time I’ve had issues with one of my GM trucks. I’d like to replace it with a 2019 Silverado, but reading that lifters are a known issue on later model GM vehicles.

So OB, what’s the most reliable used truck brand out there? Needs to be full size crew cab 4x4.

I hear from several sources that Chevy engines are having issues.

I would never own a GM truck anyhow. Thats just my own non desire. They are diareaah azz ugly.

I was a life long Ford guy. Now, no more F 150 fo me.

I have a Ram 1500 with a six cyl. Absolute the finest truck i ever owned.

I also have an older Ranger 4x4. Big 4.0 six in it. I like this one but i am replacing it soon. Not sure with what, yet. Inheritance money . I do not like the new Rangers. 4 Cyl. No good too small. 4 holes is 4 holes, no matter any turbo.

Put regular lifters and delete the afm. Replace your cam too.
Keep your truck.

Since used trucks are not much cheaper than new trucks just get a new Tundra or Ram

If reliability is your need, Tundra is your answer.

Toyota Tacoma. Reliable and you can’t beat the resale on them. I’m on my 3rd one.

Why so many?

Reliable = 10 years minimum, I’m going to drive my 2012 avalanche till they take my dl away. I just replaced the brakes at 210k miles.

When I was younger, I got that new car itch after about five years. That is no longer the case though. I plan on keeping my 2016 Tacoma till the wheels fall off. Now I’m more concerned about saving money for retirement.

I think beat used truck to last forever are gasser Tacoma's.

I think beat easy to work on affordable diesels are the 7.3 ford's, and 05-06/07 6.6 Duramax ( obviously better to get the Allison 6spd, but the 5spd is also a great transmission and known to last forever)

I think these 3 trucks will last forever if you maintain. I don't know much about the newer trucks just that they require a real mechanic with software access etc to fix nowadays, and the sensors that go out are always expensive. So if it's me stick with a motor with less of them modern amenities and just slab a back up camera and modern head unit in.

I’m new to this.

This helps your engine by running all cylinders all time?
Does it ruin your gas mileage?
Is the trade off worth it?
