Best shotgun under 500 dollars?

I went skeet shooting this weekend and really enjoyed it. Was wondering what the OB’s opinion was on the best shotgun at around 500 bucks. I can go to 800 maybe if I had to.

Yeah, you can get a great, durable A300 for 650-700.

If it’s for skeet and sporting clays look at the yildiz over and unders at academy...

Like others said, the A300 is a steal for the price.

I've got a yildiz over/under 20 gauge that I bought on sale for like $370. It came with 5 chokes, single selectable trigger, extractors and detectors. It wasn't a bad looking gun at all when I bought it- really nice looking actually- but after beating the hell out of it hunting with it for a few years, it now has some character.
I've killed a pile of big ducks (and other ducks) dove, squirrel, quail and woodcock and a few rabbits with that gun, and I've shot no telling how many rounds of skeet with it. I highly recommend it for what you're looking for.

You don’t want a pump skeet shooting, I mean it’s fun and more challenging but don’t be that guy

I'd look at used guns if it were me. I've recently seen a very lightly used Winchester SX3 and a Browning Silver for $750 each. That was their asking price. Could probably haggle and get another $100 off.

That my thing: the guy said he enjoyed the skeet and was looking to pick up his own gun. An 870 for that? Really?

+1 for a baseline Beretta auto for clays and about anything else you might get into.
-1 for the 870,.....lots of doubts about it, actually. Current ones are junk, find an old one.

Once you start shooting skeet you will quickly find that there are guns that fit you and guns that do not.
Buy one that fits. LINK
This link is much simpler and works LINK
You will find that fit has little to do with cost. You may overpay for something that doesn't fit.
I have never been formerly fitted but I know my Citori with a 28 inch barrel fits me better because my eyes are over the barrel when I do the little test. I also shoot a 1187 that does not fit me the same. I shoot it duck hunting. I am not as accurate with the 1187. If I shoot it on the skeet range I am normally two or three targets less with it than the citori it seems.
I don't shoot as much as I used too and never was a regular every week skeet shooter. I have never had a perfect round but have had several 23 or 24s.

The Franchi Affinity is an amazing semi auto under 800. Owned by Benelli and uses some of the same parts. I had a Benelli Vinci and mainly shoot a Beretta a400 now, but the Franchi is just as smooth to me as both. The a400 just lines up a little better to me but I would highly recommend at least check it out when you're buying.
