Best method for catching sheepshead off the dock

i put an underwater light next to my dock about six weeks ago. Have noticed more and more fish as the water temp has increased. Last night there were quite a few sheepshead feeding on what looked like minnows. I've caught a few sheepshead in the past just using dead shrimp on the bottom, but what is the best method for my current situation? Is it even worth trying artificial? Live shrimp under a cork?

Sheephead will tear a fiddler crab a new a-hole. You can trap them easily with a 2 liter bottle trap on a mudflats.

Here's a wild guess but have you tried a minnow?

You tried some dead skrimp on a hook?

I don't know about sheepshead, but in general, casting white crappy jigs with curly tails and 1/32 oz jig heads with an ultralight and reeled quickly through the outskirts of the light is very effective. If you need more weight, add a split skinker 12" up the line for better casting

I’d use dead shrimp to catch them. Sheepshead seem to bite anything and they seem pretty stupid honestly

This works the best. Dead shrimp will work too. I tend to use smaller hooks and find it works better for sheeps.

Fish in clean water and lighted by an underwater light will eyeball the shite out of a bait.

Dead shrimp on the bottom.

Sheepshead will very rarely hit on artificial. Dead shrimp will work just fine.

Dead shrimp on a jig head has always worked for me.

Zoom Tiny Fluke. We catch all kind of stuff under the pier lights with these.

As others have said, dead shrimp. And don't cast away from the dock. They will be close to the structure.

Sounds like you’d rather use artificial. I’ve caught a lot of them on a clear split tail sparkle beetle with a red jig head.

we used to take a flat blade shovel and scrap the barnacles on the pilings...
then drop a small hook with a small piece of dead shrimp on it and wear them out...

Dead shrimp but downsize your hook and let them eat it good before sweeping the rod. No need to hammer it home

Do you have a bowfishing rig or gig? If so, scrape the barnacles off your dock and give them hell.
If not, still scrape the barnacles and drop some skrimp or fiddler's down.

dead shrimp under a cork. you will know its a sheepshead because they play with it before they bite, the corks will be moving around not up and down.
