Prefacing this with the fact that I have done zero research, but I'm on the lookout for a new riding mower. I've got about 1.5 acres to cut with some of it hilly. I've got a Frankenstein Cub Cadet 1042kw that I have basically rebuilt myself with Amazon parts, but the constant fixing is getting old/more pricey. I'm not generally lazy, but also don't want it to take me an hour and a half to mow my yard with a pushmower. It's also easier to drink a beer on a rider. Anyone got any recs?

ETA: I just realized this probably should have gone on the Home/Garden board, but probably can't hurt to ask over here either.

Given the current prices of basic mowers at HD and Lowe’s $2k minimum, I’d keep the old one going. I don’t recommend the Snapper (I’ve got one that’s 20 years old) if you have to make stops and turns and for frequent reversing. It’s also a single blade with a small cutting footprint. I bought a used older Craftsman with a wide cut also for a different area and it’s been pretty easy to keep going despite its age.

I've got a Hustler Raptor 42" I will sell you. Moved to a home with a smaller yard and don't need it anymore.

I have had a couple of cub cadets that have been solid mowers. They are all pretty much the same. The decks are very thin just like any other budget mower so take extra care storing it or hitting shite with it.
