I guess this question goes in this forum.

I am looking for an auto battery for a car that stays in the garage 99% of the year. I have had my interstate battery on a trickle charger for the last few years. It is about 8 years old, so it finally died totally. My jumpstarter decided to die on me as well so It is currently stranded in my garage until I get a new jumpstarter (recommendations on this would be great as well for one that has a compressor as well).

I have a 99 E36 M3. I don't know if any particular batteries lend themselves better for garage cars or sports cars, but figured you guys may be able to give the best advice.

All are made by the same company in the USA so it really only matter what you like as for as Lead, AGM, Gel. Cranking amps and cycle.

Interstate's battery wizard doesn't come up with any matches for my car for some reason.

I am not a battery guy, so is there recommendations for my situation for best type of battery/cranking/cycle?

What's in it now. All info should be on battery. Usually the battery box is a specific size

My battery died with the little cool snap up here on Tuesday and I had to go get another. There is an interstate distribution center down the road so I went there, figured I would just by direct. I walk up and there is a dude humping batteries back and forth from a pallet. I walk up with my battery and tell him I need to swap it out for a new one. He looks at my battery for about 2 seconds and says, "yeah these one's Im moving," with skipping a beat he grabs one, walks it to my truck and sticks it in the back in and goes to ring me up, Im out in 4 minutes - tops - with a new battery. On the way out he says, "Make America Great Today"...

I'm sure it was a one off story, but Interstate has a customer in me from now on.

That is pretty awesome.

I will have to wait 2 weeks for them to get the MTP-92/T7.

LINK

Looks solid. Goes for $226 when I turn in the old battery. A step up in Amp hours from 60 to 80 from my old battery (i dont think i understand what that means exactly though).

Anyone have any recommendations for a portable jump starter that has a compressor in it as well?

it can run an 80 amp load for one hour, or a 1 amp load for 80 hours, or a 40 amp load for 2 hours, etc.

I bought my last car battery from Autozone, Duralast Gold, and have been disappointed. The positive pole seal was bad and the battery leaked acid long enough to eat the felt ring and dissolve most of my car's terminal clamp. One day the car wouldn't start and when I looked under the hood and saw the dissolved copper it was immediately clear what the problem was and that it would take a few days to get the car running again. Had to change out the car's terminal clamp, which is a royal pain in the arse. The battery was still under warranty so they gave me a new battery for no additional charge but I'm going to change it out soon.

Long story-short answer. I don't recommend Autozone batteries.

If you have a Costco near by they carry interstate batteries. Hard to beat their prices.

AGMs are supposed to hold a charge better when left idle. Perform very well on a maintenance charger. Also, no fluids to maintain.

Look into Deka AGM batteries.

Jump-N-Carry is the last word for jumper packs, think mine is the JNC660 model. Get a good, dedicated 12V air compressor too. I have a MV-50 which has been great even with fullsize truck tires.

Apparently this battery is not in stock anywhere and Costco can't even order it. I have to wait a couple weeks for it to come in at a interstate shop which i will still have to drive 30 minutes to get to.

I will say do not use optima batteries anymore.

The old ones were 10 year batteries. The made in Mexico ones are 2 years if that.

I have three under my work bench trickle charging trying to recover.
