Bay Champ Hull Only- How Much?

I have a friend that wants to sell me his 2005 24’ Champion Bay Champ hull with an aluminium trailer. The boat is in great condition, but needs a new engine due to issues related to lack of use. It has a new handsfree trolling motor and a new ~12” gps as of last year that are barely used. I don’t know the specifics on brands, but I don’t think they should make or break the price.
I’ve looked on the classified sites for comps and the valuation sites but the numbers are all over the place. It would need a 250hp motor to make it right.
Any thoughts on how much it’s worth?
TIA!!!

If in good shape I would think you could start at 10K going to cost you 15K + to power that big bastard.

$10k-$15k maybe. Hard to say

Absolutely not.

Yea, more like 3. It doesn't add much value to the hull, it's an accessory. Hull and horsepower are what drive the price. This one has no power. Should be pretty cheap.

This^^^offer him $8k and that’s generous but make sure there’s no rot in decks or transom. Champion used balsa in their decks and they were known for transoms falling off.

That’s about what I was thinking. Thanks for the responses.

Very little without a motor

5k-8k seems fair on both ends. By the time you put a motor on it get it the way you need it you will have 30k in it. I think the newer models were rated for 350’s. Good luck

I love that hull
It needs a 300hp outboard= $25k+
What will it really be worth after the engine
Plan to keep it for a long time
It won’t be an investment

I’d offer $7-$8k. Watch the champion hulls that have the aluminum strip on the transom. Those hulls were notorious for rotting.

I’ve been reading that they improved the transom design after ‘03-‘04.
Do you know when they removed the balsa?

Not sure what year. Most of the research i did it seemed like they stopped having transom issues in 2004-2005.

That's a buddy of mine
Came out smelling like a rose between insurance and selling the hull/trailer. His description of what happened on the phone was epic. Drug the motor up the ramp and some Baws helped him lift it into the boat.

I have a 2001 Champion 21ft w/ 2005 250hp optimax. Replaced transom w/ aluminum but having deck issues now. Motor has low hrs and runs great. I’ve been looking for new hull only. If you don’t want it let me know. If you do buy it I may be willing to part with the motor.
