What's your motor mount height? Say, from the bottom of hull to the top of the motor bracket on your hunt deck. My build is coming along, but I need to know how tall to make my transom bracket. Thanks!

Thought you could tailor that to whatever motor you're mounting depending on shaft length.

Some companies oversize bracket dimension. I guess I would look at the gauge aluminum you are plating and go from there. What's the boat length and hp? 6" in each direction should suffice if I'm understanding you correctly.

Building a 17x50, and mounting a 35 or 37 GatorTail or MudBuddy. Not sure how tall the jack plate/mount needs to be on the hunt deck.

gotcha. I understand. Go devil and gator trax should have a transom height of each model available online i assume. I'll measure mine this week and post back. Make sure to check the angle of that bracket. It's probably not a big deal, but if you run long distances, it make sense to have that almost running itself and just you steering.

Worth a shot to just call bubba or hoyt at gatortail and ask them the dimensions on their boats

I imported into autocad, scaled it at the trailer boards (assuming that that they are 2x4s on edge), and pulled a measurment of 1'-8" from the btm of the transom to the top of the motor mount.

That's something I can work with

ETA: assuming that pic I pulled from Google isn't a boat built for an outboard

I was trying to get the angle too but I cant find a picture of one good enough to pull a measurement.

The standard is a 20" transom height. But there is also a correct angle for the transom.

The short is a 16" or so.

Yeah, I believe that 20" is for an outboard.

Surface drives didn't just dream up a new transom height.

That's the reason people can run them on any production made boat.

Call bubba at gator tail. For mine, it was a 21" transom. yours looks unusually high, but maybe that's just the pic.
