Here's my problem with this statement. Trout are losing habitat faster than bass are, fact. River is high making the spawning fish unavailable to the average joe. It's the guys in the glitter boats catching right now. I watch you guys hit grand isle and make two trips a day with limits of trout or run into my duck lease and throw 5# fish in your live well to go seed your hole and keep the small ones because the area is off limits to you on tournament day. Yet you'll scuff at me throwing my nephews first keeper bass at 14.25" and troll up accusing me of keeping illegal fish but you really just want to run me off my spot cause you're jelly we're catching fish nearly every throw. We've had a camp on Graveyard since 77, I laugh when I sign up as a co angler and one of you "pros" are going to take me to a secret spot. I've seen many changes on both sides of the levee, but I don't see this as crippling. BTW, LDWF is going off of license sales, they're like votes you only get one.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII have NEVER done any of those things you just said.

and trout was just an example. if you cant fill your freezer with fish whether that is redfish, trout, bream, bass >14" from the basin, 12" all over the state excluding TB, sacalait, etc etc etc then maybe you should take up golf

you should reread my post. Im not against keeping fish. Im against throwing the MSL away and letting the meat packers haul off everything they catch

Well they can only haul off 7 per person per day. I highly doubt people get very excited about bringing home 7 10" bass.

It's not like you can bring home 50 or anything.

personally i think there will be a big rush the first few weeks, but in the long run i don't think that every weekend every 'meat hunter' in SELA is going to pay $75 to gas up their truck & boat and drive to the basin to catch 7 small bass.

and as far as the quality fish go, i think there will be more. i think the reason it takes so long for a bass in the basin to reach 14" is because it's overpopulated. i'd rather catch 5 solid fish than 20 10" fish, but that's just me.

either way i'm still going to go fishing, even if the only place that was legal to fish was jones creek.

You was used in generalized form for guys in those digitized shirts with their names across the back, blowing by kids swimming in the river cause that 3# fish they need is just around the corner. I have no problem catching 14" fish, I have a problem bringing kids and all they can talk about is the 13 7/8" fish that swallowed the Bandit and we had to rip their gills out to get bait back. I actually asked for a 5 fish limit in my comment to LDWF. The size restriction didn't do what it was intended to do, the only problem I see is it will be harder for the tourney guys to catch 14" fish.

Several years back I put 4"-6" F1 hybrids in my pond in May and by August we were catching 13" bass. By the next summer 15" and 16" fish were common.

Aren't basin bass florida strain and wouldn't the Basin see similar results if the fishery were healthy?

If all you needed was water the limits from FL to TX would be higher. They need marshes for nursery grounds so they can get concentrated in winter so bass fisherman can fill their freezers and beaches to have group sex on in the summer so everybody can bring their families down and catch their limits too. Aside from Atchafalaya Delta, where are you seeing either one of these habitats expanding in our great state?

You act like the fish will be gone if there is no size limit. So why are there fish everywhere else still? That doesnt make sense.

If the freshwater diversion ever gets put into lake maurepas, i will never leave my backyard. You can keep the spillway.

I'm guessing all those maps NOAA, USACE, Etc are wrong and Vanishing Paradise is just a money grab campaign.

That was my next statement, if we don't blow thru our BP funds and use them wisely, we'll create several more bass hot spots like Delacroix and Canarvon.

I am all for this. Storms hit every 5 years, you might as well eat some of these 13" fish that are just dieing anyway. I guess being a tournament angler, i'm not fishing for the little ones cause very rarely do i catch the 100s of 8" fish yall are catching.

Quit playing with that 10" Black worm and throw a parrot bandit. I'm not going to post deck shots of bass.
