Hey all. Two of my friends and I got back late last night from a week of diy flats fishing in the Bahamas. The weather gave us a lot of shite as always, and the fishing was a little slow comparatively. We still caught bones every day we fished though, and caught a lot of other stuff along the way. Here are some photos. Enjoy.

This one here is very nice, and you need a wide angle lens in your kit...

Thanks! I have an 11-20 2.8. These photos aren't shot on full frame though and it struggles in harsh light. Wide angles also distort subjects at closer focal lengths which can be cool, but I've been seeing too much of it lately.

eta: here's a couple wide angle shots.

I tend to gravitate towards wide angel outdoor shot. I like those...

I saw some pics on the gram. Looks like an amazing time and experience. Would love to do something like this but with a 4 month old and another on the way, it might be 20 years.

After several days of looking I am still in awe of the sunset pic. Like Wik it's a real good one. Of course many of the others are nice also. Good trip thanks for sharing

There's no way you actually enjoyed drinking those Kaliks.

I assume you are using something like lightroom to correct colors? I played with this photo a little...

I use LR for minor/batch edits and PS for major corrects when needed. Not a big fan of over editing.

We went kayaking in the flats a few weeks ago while in Turks & Caicos. Bonefish, lemon sharks, and rays everywhere.

We've made a habit of going to the Out Islands a couple times a year. You can typically find good deals on VRBO with electricity, water, air conditioner and a TV. Power is spotty on some islands and can go out for hours without reason depending where you are. Typical trip cost can vary, but this trip cost me about $800 and that's with a lot of beer (which is expensive in the islands), a pretty nice place, and a 4x4 with a roof rack. I pay for all of my flights via points.

ETA: Pogey is right , but only because some of the islands we go to are super remote and relatively untouched, which is why we like to go. The internet is bad for that.

I'm all for sharing travel advice though, and you can find deals and fish like this in the Bahamas, Belize, the Yucatán, or really anywhere else in the Caribbean. Just takes a little homework and understanding that you're going to places that are very unconnected from the outside world. This varies by location though. For example, some of the Bahamian islands are pretty touristy, while others hardly see any non-native humans that aren't there to fish.
