Just took a dive down a YouTube rabbit hole when a video from RetroBassin popped up featuring the Banjo Minnow. After that blast from the past, I hit a few of his other vids and one was him looking at some old school Rat-L-Traps at Bacon's in Shreveport. All those old Rat-L-Traps took me down memory lane and the store looks like a great place to kill time. Wondering how many of y'all frequent the place.

A tour of Bacon's

I can tell I will waste time on this guy's channel.

Spent a lot of time in there as a kid on Saturday mornings. My dad would take my brothers and me and let us buy new baits. That big snapping turtle head on the wall seemed so big to an 8 year old.

I can still smell those tubs full of rubber worms and running my hand through the oily pile of them.

I was in there early March to register for BassCashBash.

I don't go that often, but they will always have something obscure on the shelf the day I need it when Academy doesn't.

As a kid, before Bass Pro was built, Bacon's was a mecca for fishermen.

And you could build your own spinner baits to get the colors and blade styles just right.

His intro music randomly pops in my mind every few weeks and it sticks way too easily

I know. I’ve been whistling and singing that song the last couple days since I discovered his YouTube channel.

Mike (the owner) is a super intelligent guy. You wouldn't think that about a tackle shop owner but he is very sharp and quick witted. I drive past Academy to buy my stuff from him.

Mike is cool.

Like the flat tail lizards.
Bulk worms
Frog skin topwater he makes.
He got boxes of rattletrap blanks and smithwick blanks.

It’s a cool little store.

Was in there not too long ago just to kill some time. Walked out with a bunch of stuff I didn't walk in to get. It's probably the coolest bait shop I've ever been in. Very old school.
