Does it take minutes? I've had a couple done this year in BR at my FFL and I was in and out around 10mins.

I'm driving an hour plus, so I do not want to have to come back for the gun.

Just depends on the NCIS load at the time.

Good luck.

If you get a delay, they won't sell the gun till it gets a proceed

It depends on the worker there more than anything. Maybe there won't be a wait to get help because alot is sold out. I bought a shotgun once and had to wait a pretty long time for them to get past the other people in line with 1 worker.

I can handle up to an hour, but not the come back the following day. I've read some on here claiming they were not approved same day.

That has more to do with you and NICS than it does with Academy.

I bought a firearm from Academy about two months ago. Ordered online, was first customer in the store the following AM, and it took 3.5hrs for my background check to go through.

I’m just glad I bought it online, because they only had one register open with over 12 people in line to checkout.

I've bought several guns at Academy, maybe 5. Never taken more than 15-20 minutes for my background check after I completed the form. 30 minutes from start to finish buying a gun.

Do you have a Louisiana CC permit? I believe it's up to the individual business, but at my local Academy there is no background check if you present your permit.

I had a gun from Palmetto State Armory sent to Academy in Collierville, TN. When I picked it up the background check took about 15-20 minutes. I just bought a single shot .410 turkey set up for my little boys at Bass Pro during my lunch break and the background there took about the same time.

I got a yildiz from Academy 4 weeks ago and got a delay, after driving for an hour, and waiting an hour for them to issue the delay.. It cleared the next day and I drove an hour back to get it.

I have bought 3 or so from them and it went quick. From what I understand the issue is usually when there is a typo. Just make sure you don't make any mistakes.

All background checks I've had at Academy were pretty fast.

I asked the guy behind the counter at Academy in Baton Rouge about this and he had no clue what I was talking about. I walked out bc I didn’t feel like waiting. I guess it depends on which counter guy you get.

In GA, if you have CC the guy at Academy said you are in and out in minutes.
