My thoughts exactly on all these. Completely validates my recent individual purchase of a suppressor since it can now pass to my wife.

Also, going to SBR my pistol lower immediately given no interstate notice requirements for short trips and no engraving requirement. That's basically just one eForm at this point, right?

it's still going to be an eForm 1 because you're building a firearm. nothing changes there. you just simply don't have to engrave.

if i had know this a month ago, i wouldn't have engraved them.

the CLEO rule was dumb, too. from what i understand, you used to have to have them sign the CLEO form and submit it with your paperwork. however, they changed that requirement years ago.

she still has to be on the registration eForm from the way this reads...

quote:

13P: Joint Registration for Spouses under the National Firearms Act - NPRM

ATF is proposing to allow married couples to file a joint application as makers and/or transferees of NFA-regulated firearms. Under current regulations, spouses who wish to jointly possess an NFA firearm typically establish a legal trust to do so, a process that involves legal expense and administrative complexity. This proposal would allow both spouses to be registered jointly as possessors without creating a trust. Under a joint registration, the transfer of a firearm between spouses would not constitute a separate NFA transfer, reducing both administrative burden and cost for law-abiding NFA firearm owners.

So, I don't have to fill out a form to take my SBR to my land in another state now??

Does the Cargill decision help keep frt triggers safe or will it only apply to bump stocks? As technically they are just internally bump firing.

It's a start, but so many bigger issues out there. One of which is abolishing the ATF.

My guess is that it may try to clarify the 1968 Firearms Owners Protection Act for traveling to prevent issues from arising during transport. In other words, not getting hassled for transporting a firearm by LEO saying you deviated from “travel” by getting food, car repairs, getting gas, etc… while traveling. Just a guess on this. Not an expert in any way.

That is my take too. Hopefully they will also include when you fly through IL or NY on a plane and your connection is canceled.
