It does take a specific rating on the oil and none of the major oil companies are producing an oil to meet that spec.

The 2017 6.7L oil spec? Whoever told you that is full of crap. Ford has an 11-page PDF list of oils meeting the M2C171F1 spec. Ford doesn't blend their own oils, several major manufacturers do and package it for them. Probably put that exact same oil in half a dozen other bottles too.

At least ford has the decency to do that for their customers.

Cummins has a shitty "fluids for cummins" bulletin that lists a bunch of CES specs, with no cross reference to API. The customer is left holding the bag on figuring that shite out and you damn near need a chemistry degree to do it.

2017 6.7L oil spec

What part of F150 diesel did you not read? I don't know the spec of a 6.7 but the 3.0 DOES take a specific rating. FA-4 is different from the 6.7 and a oil rated for CK-4 is not acceptable.

Burns my arse that I didnt hold on to my old truck for two more years. I know some people in the truck business and they gave me zero heads up the 7.3 was coming and now I'm stuck with this wimpy arse overhead cam 6.2 the rest of my life

Can drop a blower on that thing. Whipple 2.9L. You'll never pass a gas station again.

I'm not into modifying things anymore and this truck is plenty capable for what I need and see myself needing in the future.

A big pushrod motor would have been way more my flavor though. That engine with a straight axle front and 4.30 gears would have been my shite. Money allowing I might just lose my arse on the 2018 to get a 4 door long bed 7.3

Eta: I never intended to sell this truck the rest of my life. It was going to be my sweet arse camp truck in 4 or 5 years. A camp truck with a 7.3 would be wayyyyyy cooler though

Chevron Delo 400 ZFA and Amsoil MD Synthetic 5w30 both list the -B1 spec, moreover the 6.7L PSD spec'd oils are compatible with ALL Ford diesel engines. The FA-4 spec meeting stuff in the Ford -B1 callout is limited to the 3.0 and 1.5 PSD's but those engines are not limited to that spec. So you have lots of oil choices, 11 pages worth.

Is it a cheat car or not?

Sell it.

People are crazy for those things. List it and be patient and you'll get more than its worth.

If you're asking what to do oil-wise, use the factory shite.
