Why couldn’t AR15 safeties be made like those on shotguns, push button on the trigger guard.I have S&W ,very accurate but I hate that lever safety, awkward and makes loud click.I ride around on my golf cart looking for hogs and I tend to keep the safety off which I don’t really like to do.
A marine told me lots of marines were accidentally shot in VietNam because no one used their safeties,be on patrol, guy would trip and shoot the guy in front of him.On ambush didn’t used the safety because of the loud click.
I have too many guns, hunted all my life but have very little knowledge of triggers and safety mechanics.I always use my safety on my other rifles, shotguns.Would certainly never try to adjust a trigger.

Thumb safety is faster.

I haven’t noticed that it’s any louder.

There is a push button mod that you can buy. People use them for competition.

Also, if you must, the pin and spring for the safety are accessible by taking off the pistol grip.

Out of curiosity how do you feel about the thumb safety on a 1911?

You can cut the safety spring a little shorter if it's clicking too loud for your tastes.

I feel like that's probably louder than the safety.

I don’t know anything about thumb safety on 1911,never owned one,all I have are Glocks.I shot 1911 in boot camp in 60’s,never shot one since.I’m not a pistol enthusiast.

As far as loudness of golf cart, you would be amazed how quiet it is.I wrap camo cloth around the front and just creep.Shot quite a few,or at least I used to.Last couple years rare to see them in daylight or even get pictures with game camera. They’ve gone pretty much nocturnal.

Marines aren't the brightest of the Services.

Versus the safety latch on a Soviet rifle? Pretty sure walking in a jungle is a hell of a lot louder than the click of an AR selector switch.

That ignorance should be your cause for concern here.

Not the dullest, either. That distinction belongs to the Army.

Simply apply a little down pressure and it’s silent.

SOG guys actually did patrol with the safeties off of their CAR15s, but they were literally looking to fire upon anything they could immediately see and every 1/4 second counted.
