Good find. The ruger linked earlier is marked up alot compared to this Stag Arms rifle. If I had to choose between the Ruger, Custom Build, or Stag— I’d go Stag.

That's a great deal in the current environment. I was going to link Gunbuyer's S&W Sport II for $799, but I'd definitely go with the Stag for $20 more if I was looking for something right now.

Ok, good info. 16" seems to be the standard barrel length. Can you get shorter?

Only if you get a “pistol” or do a form 1 or 4 and make a Short Barrel Rifle (ATF item)

I remember seeing Ruger AR556 going for $520 back in February.

I bought my M&P Sport II for $480 in January.

FYI, a semi-automatic or pump shotgun normally can hold 5 or 6 shells if you remove the plug.

If you're using for home defense, a red dot is going to be your best option. I'm a fan of vortex optics. I recently put a sparc on one of my ARs and like it.

On the site that lsufan1971 linked you can pull up AR style pistols or AR style rifles. Most sites probably do that.

Pistols

The only 5.56 pistol they have doesn't have a real stock. The others "In stock" are all 9mm's. You'll have to ask the experts what putting a stock on that would entail. I want an AR pistol, but won't buy until prices go back down.

Rifles

If so many people weren't panic buying right now, they have plenty of all of these here.

Red dots are good for personal protection but I got an AR not really knowing what I was going to do with it. After getting a red dot, I wanted something that could shoot a little further so I got an Elcan m145. It’s a 3.5x magnification and the reticle illuminates nicely. I can see 10 yards away quickly or shoot a couple hundred yards.

Rapid fire is a bit overrated. It’s difficult to rapid fire with any accuracy, and you end up wasting $15 in ammo in a few seconds and not hitting your target much. That’s why I like something a little further out.

Definitely not knocking the AR platform. It has a purpose. I just enjoy a good long distance gun after buying an AR for my first self defense rifle.
