I've never heard the above phrase and it immediately leads me to believe this product is crap.

Just my first impression as I have never heard of it before.

It's not. Sharks and Rays both have "Ampullae of Lorenzini" which are receptors capable of picking up magnetic fields produced by fish and other prey. Magnets can be used to overpower these receptors causing sharks and rays to flee when they come in close range.

Tut - You looking for something wearable? There's a company in Texas that sells a product called Ray-Pel that is designed for sting rays. Not sure how effective for sharks. I'm guessing sharks would take more heavy duty magnets

"Taxman" and "Man in the Grey Suit" are both common nicknames for sharks. Additionally "Arsehole" is also a common name for them

That’s what it looks like, they also have a comment from the company saying it is highly magnetic and attached to ferrous objects, good luck dropping a $75 magnetic weight anywhere off the coast of LA.

Just went and watched one of their videos and I’m not a diver but that definitely looks interesting. Could be used for more than just surfers and divers too
